High School Soccer

Now that the soccer season has ended for all local teams, I had to have a post on here. I have been shocked that this is the first post of the season, I should say, after the season. I checked every day throughout the season to find nothing. I checked other sports to see if they were posting, and th...

Congrats Brian Barnett

Congrats to former Peoria Notre Dame soccer player Brian Barnett. Brian was part of the 2004 state championship squad and has been an assistant coach for the Bradley University soccer team for the past 6-7 years. He was named today as the new head coach of the IUPUI soccer team. I believe he is the ...

Re: Whats going on?

Perhaps futbol fan should read others posts before posting an OPINION. I said Notre Dame has always had a great bunch of coaches. Never said they couldn't coach. For someone that claims to be such a supporter, one might think that they would know that Notre Dame has 4 state championships, not 3. But...

Re: Whats going on?

I don't believe that I ever said the staff didn't have character. I stated that I THOUGHT, they put more emphasis on rankings, which, especially in high school, are suspect, which I BELIEVE has led to some overconfidence at times. I to have direct ties to PND soccer, so I am not an outsider casting ...

Re: Whats going on?

This answer is my opinion alone..so all of you can't say anything negative about PND soccer...back off. Notre Dame will reload and be the class of the region and most likely the state again, as always. The parochial and travel teams serve as excellent feeder systems to the team with almost all playe...

Re: Whats going on?

I agree on the class system. Should be only two in soccer. Class A is a joke and AA being nearly one also. This class thing in sports is really my hot button. Eight classes in football...really? Should be 4. Two in basketball, two in track and so on. Make winning a state title mean something..for th...

Re: Whats going on?

I'll join the fray. I suppose I'm showing my age but I seem to remember some pretty darn good Notre Dame soccer teams, before there was facebook and subjective national and regional rankings. I seem to remember a state championship team in 2004 with only 2 state champs crowned each year along with m...

Re: Whats going on?

I can only make an educated and experienced guess, but I would say anytime someone posts and it doesn't align with what has been said, that poster is immediately chastised and called every name in the book that you can get away with on the forums. Posters seem to forget that forums are mostly opinio...

Re: Soccer player of the year - Boys

I never stated that DI wasn't a higher level, I said to stop inferring that if an athlete doesn't play DI , his or her talent level is less. Over the broad spectrum that is true, but to say that because an athlete does not play DI college that they are not as gifted or talented, just isn't true. And ...

Re: Soccer player of the year - Boys

And once again I must take issue with the DI mindset with people. I guess I must first ask the question...if you are not so called DI material, does that mean your not as talented? I have said for years, not all athletes are going to be DI, not because of their talent, but because of the fit for the...

Re: Notre Dame Loses Opener

You are right about the club situation in Peoria and surrounding areas. This isn't a new problem, as this has been the case for years. Ego, money, facilities and more ego have proved to be the downfall of combining clubs into one powerful area club. That being said, club soccer isn't affecting PND, ...

Notre Dame Loses Opener

I can't believe that no one has posted on last nights opening loss to Champaign Central. I have my own thoughts on what I saw and feel, but am going to wait, to see if I am in the minority or majority. I will say this now.. the Irish have some work to do if they continue playing this caliber of team...

Re: PND Thread

That must mean that other .01 of us are the smartest and the brightest to be able to appreciate and understand a game that 99.9% of you don't understand!!! Yes, you are definitely a bright one. Although, your math is weak as .01 would be 1%, and I inferred 0.1% care about soccer. I may be a little ...

Re: PND Thread

Or it could be that 99% of us don't care about ND soccer! :D You could leave the ND off and correct the stat to 99.9% and be even more correct. There will be more people at most 1A football games today than there will be at the soccer state finals. How many college teams can even get a 1000 fan per...

Re: PND Thread

I'm not sure there is a clear cut POY for this season. IMO the all-state moniker has become very watered down with all the multiple classes that have been added over the past few years, in all sports, not just soccer. It's the everyone gets a trophy and and every school wins a state championship in ...

Re: PND Thread

Wow, the forum has been eerily silent after a small flurry a while back. Everyone must be collectively holding their breath as to what the next few days will bring. Confidence is not at the same levels as in years past for our usual state contender. I would like to recognize that 9 years ago tonight...

Re: PND Thread

Well said sportsfan34. I am a ND soccer fan, however I am a realist and call things as they are, not as I want them or hope for them to be. As for coaches making changes, there are not any to make at this point. I stated earlier the talent level in the scoring positions is not there and to repeat, e...

Sorry but it takes talent to finish.....and they do not have that, or at least haven't shown it and it is getting late!!!!. I've been to a few games and witnessed the play of the forwards......it's not there...anyone can get a shot off...to finish takes more. The thread throughout the year has been ...

Re: PND Thread

Facts are facts.. and regardless of competition, they don't have the talent this year. It really isn't that difficult to figure out. And what has happened in past years ie, 2 players playing D1, has absolutely nothing to do with this years group. They still are better than everyone else in the area,...

Re: PND Thread

I agree whole heartedly with Irishfan12...you can have the best defense around..but if you can't finish and score some goals, your going to go down quickly to a fully rounded team, as witnessed all year. This ND team is probably the most goal scoring challenged of all ND teams ever.

Re: PND Thread

By this posters opinion ND has some real problems,( yes I know many have already said that) that haven't been corrected yet and time is running out. 3 shots on goal at the gateway in 3 games, with no goals ,and how many PK's missed. An own goal tonight, and another missed PK(Normal U high)?!!! Pleas...
