Re: Travel Softball

Great tourney and atmosphere in Mapleton this weekend at the 14U State Tourney. Well run and organized, after it was moved from Pekin, after I was told that officials there wanted late minute changes made in order to host tournament. I had never heard of Butler-Haynes Park until this weekend. A fine...

Re: Washington _________

Right or wrong, this is going to be a domino effect as every high school and college in the nation will be pressured to change their name. Of course, FSU will be exempt.

Re: Predictions for 2020 Mid Illini

Great article in today’s PJS on Health experts revising the rules again. I am in agreement with Washington head coach. You need to give it more than two days with this age group. Must be real frustrating for any coach. What health experts don’t look at is what these kids are doing if they don’t have...

Re: Gundy

And everyone who knows me that is not the case. In today’s world you have to watch what you wear, you can’t support your flag, for fear of retaliation. Just what is next. I put on a simple white shirt today that has the logo and symbol for Hurley on it. I actually went in the internet and looked Hur...

Re: State Finals

From reading the PJS today, I get the feeling that the IHSA didn’t really like Peoria trying the take all approach in bidding for both girls and both teams. Greed perhaps? The girls wasn’t going anywhere, so they might have pushed the envelope too far. But the fact that Brad Underwood was behind the...

Re: State Finals

If teams didn’t bring fans to Peoria, why would they bring them to Champaign? My prediction is you will still have a half empty arena. It just will be 8,000 versus 5,000. However, I did enjoy the years it was in Champaign before and after the Assembly Hall was built. Crammed in Huff Gym watching gre...

Re: IHSA Boys Basketball State Tournament

After reading the damaging article in Tribune, blaming Caterpillar for leaving Peoria after committing to downtown renovations they bailed it was a foregone conclusion. But sometimes change is for the better. The Civic Center is nearly 40 years old needs a new look, with money no one has.

Re: MLB targeting June return?

Baseball is always behind the 8 ball, even when they virtually owned the sports during the summer months. Now competing in the fall with the NFL will be a disaster for ratings.

An interesting aspect of summer ball when crossing state lines into Iowa. Our granddaughter plays for a team from Washington and this was their first game. There are two Quad City teams in this tourney. Rules are if you have at least 3 girls from Iowa on your team, you are allowed to be Iowa based, ...

A lot of hype over Luke Little. Resembles Randy Johnson and has a timed fastball at 105 mph.

Re: State Finals

I really felt the the IHSA would move boys back to Champaign when they released the new format, making a complete changeover. However, when the virus canceled everything, leaving Peoria with a large financial hit. I believe that it gave Peoria another chance. Slugger has the ideal place to host the ...

The IHSA is following the strict guidelines set by our Governor. Meanwhile I still should not play catch with my grandson, and kids are going out of state just to play summer sports. Be sure to stay six feet apart, but you can be arm in arm if you want to protest. I never thought I would see our soc...

Drew Brees and the apologies

I want to ask why? In essence he said that he supports the American Flag and would never disrespect it by kneeling. I served my country and consider using the flag for airing grievances is offensive. So once again, even though I miss sports, I don’t need the NFL.

Hey squirrel, who is Richard Keene? A BU grad? I watched the video of his son and he is a quicker version of Nate Kennel and a lot of potential to grow. A good fit if BW can recruit Texas.

Re: NASCAR 2020

Chicago couldn’t make a decision either and lost out. Although I would much rather see fans, at least it is a sport that could sustain without fa...
