Re: US Women fail to advance at U20 World Cup

Population and the numbers of people playing don't have any bearing on performance. Just look at Iceland in recent years, where the number of people registered to play soccer in Brazil was still greater than the population of the entire country of Iceland, who has played at a very high internationa...

Re: US Women fail to advance at U20 World Cup

The US managed only one win, 6:0 against Paraguay, but lost their opening match 2:1 to Japan and needed 2 goals in the final 10' to manage a 2:2 draw against Spain, to close with 4 points. The US needed a win to secure passage. Granted Japan and Spain are competent women's programs, but stunning no...

Playoffs still a major long shot but it’s clear this is a different team under Shildt with the offense under the new guys light year better than with Mabry.

Here was the reaction of South Carolina coach Will Muschamp to this news:

It’s a classic response from a guy trying to protect his own...attack the messenger. These coaches are such ridiculous bullies.

They have lost plenty of these kind of series.. so it's nice to see them win. The team seems to have a little life post MM.
I would agree. The baserunning (save for last night) has been quite a bit better and the offense is much improved. A lot less strikeouts, higher OBP, etc.

Not following too closely. Did assistant get fired for 2015 incident or a new incident? If new incident then I can see how Meyer is in the clear. If termination is for the 2015 incident then it appears as if Meyer has more to explain as how can it be term worthy now but not 3 years ago? Zach Smith ...

Cards get Tyson Ross from Padres on waivers. He was always on Cubs radar, but apparently price was too high. Good pickup, but is an unrestricted free agent in 2019.
Just saw this. I like it. The Cardinals need someone to eat innings the rest of the way.

Re: Urban Meyer

I think it's completely and utterly tone deaf the way the program and school handled this, especially in the wake of Penn State. To state this isn't on the head coach is just flat out irresponsible. When you are leading a major college athletics program, in a sense, you are a cult leader. People ci...

A smaller ball most definetly could ... the shot clock reference was only to point out the game is different European rules and anytime you have to think verse react things can be altered. it’s going to be fun to see him in person.... Coach said we did the identity things well, rebound and defend but didn’t shoot well and that’s what the focus will be on practice. That’s my biggest concern... if we can shoot well it makes our inside game that much better. If teams can sag back off us...

I wonder if this was a smart decision by the kid, or spurred by financial need for his family? He has to live with his choice now. He may have just disliked school and the work associated with it. I imagine most college kids (and players) think about the money they'll make after college and would l...

This is a real good get for South Dakota State. Bradley recently offered him along with some P6 schools.

I know they aren't sexy but SD State would be a decent addition to the MVC if they wanted to expand.
