See, I was told by some Dunlap parents that the girls coach was all but decided before the season ended. Premature?
Not saying premature, just saying what is occurring. I've been around long enough to know you never jump the gun.

Re: Coaching Changes

Anyone heard any official news on new coaches for area teams? I know Morton Girls and Dunlap Girls both had retirements this spring. Any news? Dunlap girls coach Pat Garst did retire after two consecutive state titles. Interviews are currently taking place for his replacement. Dunlap boys track coa...

Re: MI State Dynasties

Mid Illini won three state titles this year! Is that the best year ever for the conference for state titles? With Richwoods girls winning basketball, the Peoria area won four state titles - congrats to all these programs for their excellence! When you say "this year," I assume you mean school year....

Re: Congrats Dunlap Girls!

After watching Dunlap's girls dominate the Honor Roll meet tonight, I started wondering when the explosive growth in the Dunlap district will push them into Class 3A for track. Anybody know? Likely next year. The line this year was 1301 and Dunlap was at 1281. The line has been dropping, a product ...

Re: 2017-2018 Mid-Illini All Sports Standings

Morton needs to finish ahead of Washington in this weekends tennis, then hope that Dunlap girls can lose a place or two in softball standings. No doubt that softball program has kept them from the top of the standing the past two years Um...Dunlap won it last year and was second the year before, so...

Maybe you do coach and teach at the school. But probably not basketball, remember we called him jo basketball. He is a good supporter of the other sports. But he thought he knew everything about basketball and had no problem throwing his power around when it came to that sport. And I don't know any...

http://www.week.com/story/38079798/redevelopment-plans-for-peoria-stadium I agree it needs renovating, but, replacing the iconic Peoria Stadium sign with an electric one is a horrible idea. How about this, keep the old sign and build a new electronic one where it would be visible to traffic? :dusti...

Re: 2017-2018 Mid-Illini All Sports Standings

Dunlap is dominating tennis and track and field. Morton needs to win baseball outright and hopefully get some points from other sports or they will likely finish 3rd or 4th. One again, they will get nothing from softball. Dunlap will win tennis and girls track. Top two in soccer, top three in boys ...

Glad to see people who have no clue what is going on getting on here to spout off  I have no idea why Coach Thomason was let go, but I will trust that it was for more than the season record and play on the floor. The athletic director being let go had nothing to do with the principal. There ha...

Re: ESPN direct-to-consumer app to launch at $4.99/mo

It wasn’t free. You had to pay for a cable package to access it. Now it’s an add-on cost. It’s not the contract the MVC and other leagues signed up for. Thank you for pointing this out! Everyone keeps referring to ESPN as free. Not according to my cable bill every month! The only free sports anymor...

Re: 2002 McDonalds Game- DeAngelo Collins

I started down this rabbit hole yesterday and gave up. Everything you find lists the same November 1980 birthday, which would make him 21-22 in 2002. However, this LA Times article (http://articles.latimes.com/2002/may/02/sports/sp-collins02) clearly refers to him as 19 in 2002. It also suggests tha...

No one is forcing universities to stay in the level they are. They can break away, move down, etc. You are correct, and it shows my point. The Power 5 have decided they have an exclusive club, and they'll be **** if they'll let anyone else in. It's the dumbest move ever because you shrink the numbe...

Re: More evidence the elites don’t like mid-majors

Loyola's run this year (and the other basketball mid-majors from the past) is the reason football will never open up their tournament to the have-nots. You'll continue to have the UCFs of the world every few years claiming some mythic national title, but football knows that these upsets are bad for...

Re: Dunlap Varsity Boys Basketball Coach

Is Dunlap basketball the merry-go-round job that East Peoria football has been? No idea but the coach prior to Thomason left due to roster demands by the School board. That school board seems to be such a mess. Their school board is a mess - from my slightly outsider point of view. Their property t...

So if he shows character by missing on purpose, is the next player to approach the record an a**hole if he breaks it? Back in the day, almost all the games were on Channel 25, so I don’t know if that one floats completely. Of course, watching on Channel 25 meant you had to listen to Lee Hall, so maybe that was incentive enough to drive downtown. Radio broadcast with Snell and the Coach on, TV volume down, made for...

No way Ball has the capital to start a league properly when I don't think they are manufacturing and shipping shoes yet even.
