Re: 2018-19 College Football Coaching Carousel

Sounds like he won’t coach anywhere. Alludes to his brain cyst condition is getting worse. Wasn't that the same line at the end of Florida when it was clear the corruption was closing in on him. Seems very familiar. Health and family were the reasons for leaving Florida, according to Meyer. Health ...

Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer to retire from coaching following the Rose Bowl. Offensive coordinator/QB coach Ryan Day will take over as head coach as of January 2nd.
Does he coach again and if so, where?
Cleveland Browns? Cincinnati Bengals?

Re: CFP Selection Show Thread

One of the problems is that the criteria is always different. 2014 - Conference championships are important (Take Ohio State over Baylor and TCU) 2015 - Conference championships are important (Leave out Ohio State despite being the best team in football) 2016 - Eye Test (Take Ohio State over 2 Loss...

Re: CFP Selection Show Thread

So teams like Alabama, Clemson, and ND would get to risk injuries to players in order to play an extra game against teams they would get ripped for playing as patsies in the regular season? 8 teams or 16 teams fine, but no way does a team like Northern who lost by 18 to the worst Florida State team...

Re: CFP Selection Show Thread

I have always preferred a 16 team playoff where ALL ten conference champions qualify with six at-large. The first two rounds would be at the higher seed with the semifinals and championship under the current format of the bowl system. This year it would be: (11) LSU at (6) Ohio State (14) Appalachi...

Re: NFL Week 11

Officials are doing their best to help the Steelers get back into this game. Examples? And I would say a combination of the Steelers waking up and the Jags defense breaking down lead to another Steelers win. Roughing the passer that negated the INT on the Steelers side of the field and the 15 yard ...

Re: 2018-2019 Mid Illini All-Sports Standings

Limestone doesn’t field cross country teams anymore? They are young on the boys side and ran everyone in the F/S race, dominating it and winning. Look for them to be a force in the next few years. They have traditionally struggled to put five girls on the line to score as a team. This year was no d...

Re: NFL Week 3

I watched my first, start to finish, NFL game of the season last night. Disclaimer: I'm a Steelers fan. Is it me, or is the NFL nearly unwatchable at this point? Every pass play is simply a long play, pass interference, or roughing the passer. There was a long delay at one point last night as the re...

I can't remember 5-10 years ago so I could be wrong, but it seems that Washington has really upgraded their boys/girls cross country program the last few years My daughter was in 8th grade when Washington Middle School added Cross Country in 2009. Re: 2018

The mid-Illini should be much more competitive than in years past. On the boys side, it looks like a Washington-Metamora matchup for the championship. Washington boys are deep, but they’ll have to get a few guys up front to offset Glaub’s low-stick points. Based on the pre-conference, Washington de...

Re: No more dual meets in XC?

The only caveat to me is that XC varsity races at invites normally limit to 7 runners. There are open races, but they can be massive, are at the end of the invite, and as such aren't necessarily an apples to apples comparison of times to compare 6-10 runners. However, many schools were not running ...

Re: The USA is A Okay since Kaepernick needs to get paid

I don’t see how you got so much negativity out of the commercial. None of things you mention have anything to do with the commercial shown. I think people can separate their personal feelings towards Kaepernick and also recognize a strong commercial and message. Maybe not. If the message was overco...

Re: No more dual meets in XC?

I think dual meets are pretty much a thing of the past in both cross country and track. With the big invites each weekend giving all runners a chance to compete and new timing systems making it easy to get times on all runners, duals just sort of disrupt the training routine for XC. I agree with ev...

Re: No more dual meets in XC?

Western Big 6 went to it a few years ago as have some suburban conferences. Given the technology at meets now, everyone gets to run on Saturday. Runners 6-10 can battle it out on Saturday when the races are bigger and the competition deeper and the pressure greater. I advocated for the conference to...

Re: 2018

Mid Illini girls will be wide open with 3-4 teams having a legit shot at it. While I agree that this might be the deepest girls field in the Mid-Illini ever, I still think it probably comes down to two teams: Washington and Dunlap. Morton, Pekin, Metamora, and Canton are all good and the battle for...

Do IHSA rules differ from NFHS rules for uniforms? Here is what I found for NFHS: c. Numbers: 1. The numbers shall be clearly visible and legible using Arabic numbers 1-99 inclusive and shall be on the front and back of the jersey. 2. The numbers shall be centered horizontally at least 8 inches and ...

Just stop trying to defend Meyer. It's not worth it. Umm no. Your explanation still doesn’t answer the question. Meyer reported to his bosses in 09 and 15. It was the universities fault as far as I am concerned. Meyer is taking the heat for it but he did his job. Meyer, at any point, could have fir...
