Re: 2018

The mid-Illini should be much more competitive than in years past. On the boys side, it looks like a Washington-Metamora matchup for the championship. Washington boys are deep, but they’ll have to get a few guys up front to offset Glaub’s low-stick points. Based on the pre-conference, Washington de...

Re: No more dual meets in XC?

The only caveat to me is that XC varsity races at invites normally limit to 7 runners. There are open races, but they can be massive, are at the end of the invite, and as such aren't necessarily an apples to apples comparison of times to compare 6-10 runners. However, many schools were not running ...

Re: The USA is A Okay since Kaepernick needs to get paid

I don’t see how you got so much negativity out of the commercial. None of things you mention have anything to do with the commercial shown. I think people can separate their personal feelings towards Kaepernick and also recognize a strong commercial and message. Maybe not. If the message was overco...

Re: The USA is A Okay since Kaepernick needs to get paid

I understand people feel how they do about Kaepernick. But this is a really cool commercial. https://twitter.com/Kaepernick7/status/1037387722107830272 Two problems with the Nike campaign: 1. Re: No more dual meets in XC?

I think dual meets are pretty much a thing of the past in both cross country and track. With the big invites each weekend giving all runners a chance to compete and new timing systems making it easy to get times on all runners, duals just sort of disrupt the training routine for XC. I agree with ev...

Re: No more dual meets in XC?

Western Big Six I can understand with Galesburg and Quincy being quite a distance for a midweek meet. I know when I lived in Pennsylvania 25 years ago that the schools only had the big conference meet with no duel conference - of course schools could still schedule conference schools for a duel mee...

Re: No more dual meets in XC?

Western Big 6 went to it a few years ago as have some suburban conferences. Given the technology at meets now, everyone gets to run on Saturday. Runners 6-10 can battle it out on Saturday when the races are bigger and the competition deeper and the pressure greater. I advocated for the conference to...

Re: 2018

Mid Illini girls will be wide open with 3-4 teams having a legit shot at it. While I agree that this might be the deepest girls field in the Mid-Illini ever, I still think it probably comes down to two teams: Washington and Dunlap. Morton, Pekin, Metamora, and Canton are all good and the battle for...

Re: Worst football uniforms you've seen?

Do IHSA rules differ from NFHS rules for uniforms? Here is what I found for NFHS: c. Numbers: 1. The numbers shall be clearly visible and legible using Arabic numbers 1-99 inclusive and shall be on the front and back of the jersey. 2. The numbers shall be centered horizontally at least 8 inches and ...

Just stop trying to defend Meyer. It's not worth it. Umm no. Your explanation still doesn’t answer the question. Meyer reported to his bosses in 09 and 15. It was the universities fault as far as I am concerned. Meyer is taking the heat for it but he did his job. Meyer, at any point, could have fir...

Whatever what was decided or not decided, Bob Ley said it best; it all came down to power, money and winning games. Joe Paterno come to mind anyone? Paterno helped shield a child rapist for 30 years despite having direct eye witness testimony to the offenses happening inside his locker room, in the...

Re: Urban Meyer

OSU gives Urban a 3 week vacation where he will miss no major games. Way to be tough. Remember if not for the reporting by McMurphy, the abuser would still be employed. So Urban did not report to compliance in 15. He lied at media day. Yet he keeps his job. And he admits he had amnesia in 18 about ...

Buckeyes—do you have issue with Zach Smith being fired? Interesting question! If Urban Meyer could give a logical answer to why he fired Smith in 2018, I might be willing to believe the rest of his story. However, I can't really see a logical answer to the question that doesn't contradict something...

Congratulations to Amanda Young (aka Duvendack) on becoming the next head girls track coach at Dunlap. Both teams, boys and girls, will have a tough road to hoe in 3A. However, both teams have quality coaching staffs and some strength returning, especially the girls. Both teams are ready for the cha...

See, I was told by some Dunlap parents that the girls coach was all but decided before the season ended. Premature?
Not saying premature, just saying what is occurring. I've been around long enough to know you never jump the gun.

No doubt that softball program has kept them from the top of the standing the past two years Um...Dunlap won it last year and was second the year before, so...
