Re: DePaul Basketball

Yeah, I didn't realize this was their first Big East win - I thought they were better than that. But they have been close in their losses, especially like you said at Villanova. The Demons have quality wins over Texas Tech, Minnesota and Iowa. The new Big East, while not quite the quality of the old ...

DePaul Basketball

DePaul soundly beat number five Butler today by 13 today. The Demons were up by as many as 20 during the second half. Their record is now 13-5. This was DePaul's first win over ranked time in 14 years! (2006). While I was a Illinois and Bradley fan way back in my younger days, I used to loosely foll...

Re: Pat Ryan’s choice

All listed assistants are also currently employed as teachers at MTHS. Creating a teaching position to hire a head coach can get complicated. That makes sense. Whatever happened to Curt Ryan - wasn't that Pat's brother? Don't follow that closely but didn't he coach the F-S teams? Is he still at Met...

Re: Mid-Illini 2019-20

Pekin loses again (four in row) as Metamora wins easily tonight by ten. Redbirds have a really good team this year. Both teams have one loss in league play but they are heading in different directions. As I said in earlier post, the Dragons have not played well for a three weeks now. They struggled ...

Re: 2020 NFL Playoffs

Well spoke a bit too soon at this time - Bills and Allen show some clutch results themselves as they get tie winning drive in last minute...now overtime. Win or lose, Iike someone said, we are seeing the maturation of Allen as QB. Next year might the year the Bills dethrone Patriots...

Re: 2020 NFL Playoffs

Can't believe the Bills are about to lose this one...quite a comeback by the Texans. Getting two two-point conversions against a good Bills defense is amazing. Watson started slow but was clutch down stretch. Watson is a bit like Russell Wilson in the way he comes back, I believe he has five comebac...

Re: Mid-Illini 2019-20

So as we enter the second half of the 19-20 season and a new year, what are everyones predictions on how the standings will end up? Just a prediction: Pekin Metamora Washington Morton East Peoria Limestone Dunlap Canton I was just thinking about this. Obviously this could take a major change but I ...

Re: 2019-20 Season

OB is right - Illinois Matmen is a great resource to follow IHSA wrestling. I also get information from the Pekin Times who covers Pekin wrestling. Washington will win the MI for the seemingly 50th time in row. Metamora has slight edge over Pekin (I believe they beat Dragons by one in December match...

Re: B1G Bowls Thread

Well Indiana throws away their game so B10 finishes 4-5. Sad thing is that the B10 could have been 7-2 if OSU, Wisconsin and Indiana all pulled their games out. All three had fourth quarter leads but lost them. Truthfully all three outplayed their opponents and should have won but turnovers, missed ...

How fickle fate is! Larsen was a mediocre pitcher but for one day he shined with one of the greatest world series accomplishments. Before the famous perfect game, Larsen had started game two and lasted only 1.2 innings while allowing four runs. That was his only pitching in the 1956 series before ga...

I gotta say, I try to understand all that the PJS is going through and a big supporter of the print press, but I was visiting my family during the Christmas week down in Peoria area last week. I bought a paper each day ($2) and there was NOTHING in it about the previous days games. In fact one day h...

I also have watched bits and pieces of some other ...

Re: B1G Bowls Thread

Wisconsin should have won this game, they outgained Oregon by a lot of yards but turnovers and a missed field goal in first half turned out big...Big Ten 4-4 in bowl games but could easily be 6-2 of OSU and Wisky pulls out their games. Indy plans Tennessee tomorrow so the Big Ten will probably finis...

My take is; Mitch is back but we will bring in a quality backup because we are just not sure.
As Matt Forte says, they already have a quality backup. Mitch.
You know, Mitch wouldn't be a bad backup....not too many backups who were number two in the draft! :D

Re: Dunlap Varsity Boys Basketball Coach

meh...I think Dunlap came into the tournament with one win and 0-4 conference record in the mediocre Mid Illini. No offense but the Taylorville tournament had a lot of bottom feeders. Dunlap beat one of the worse teams in state Rantoul (0-12), beat a bad one win Rochester team by one point and beat ...

Did I see correctly? Morton scored 15 in one game? Yikes Yeah, I saw that. Really brutal to score only 15 points...Potters did not have a very good tournament overall. I also thought Pekin did not play very well either. Lackluster in win against Plainfield, struggled to beat a 4-9 Hersey team in ov...

I agree and was thinking the same thing last night - I wonder how good Mahomes would be if he had fallen to the Bears. Mahomes says he learned a lot from Alex Smith/Coach Reid sitting his first year. John Fox and Jay Cutler would have been Mahomes coach and QB his first year. Mahomes also is blesse...

Re: Chicago Bears 2019

Very true! The player many thought the Bears should of drafted was Watson. Early in the draft process, I was Fournette 1st round and Mahomes 2nd round. Mahomes moved up boards pretty early though. It is very possible that Mahomes wouldn't be as good under Bears coaching and the lack of offensive ta...

Re: Chicago Bears 2019

A first hand look at what could have been. Ryan Pace should at been fired at halftime. Remember, the Bears spent draft capital to move up 1 spot to not take Mahomes or Watson. Although to be fair, many people missed on Mahomes. https://ftw.usatoday.com/2017/04/2017-nfl-draft-grades-picks-analysis-r...

4th & 23 = a 6-yard dump off
That's a perfect description of the entire season of how futile their offense was...and to see Mahomes play against the Bears just adds salt into the wound
