Re: Open letter from IHSA Exec. Dir. (along with Nat'l. Fed State High School Assn.'s Exec. Dir.) to parents: Cool it

I sit at the scorers table which is directly across from the home and visitors bleachers at girls and boys sophomore and varsity basketball games and have witnessed so many fans acting beyond rational behavior. It is sad. I don't know if it is getting worse than it was 40-50-60 years ago, but it isn...

Re: Coaching Changes

Both Dunlap head track coaches will face a much more difficult state picture next year. Dunlap is 3A. I don't know much about the boys side, but the top Dunlap girls could make finals next year, but I don't see them as a top threat. The girls scored 102 points last year to take 2A. They would have s...

Especially for those public schools who win sectionals and state championships with athletes that move into the district from districts in close proximity to the new district. ;)

Guess I was wrong. I just heard he is back on the team now and has been practicing Interesting Danny Grieves called him “the Central recruit” on his MTCO show this week. The Washington Panthers are no more "Washington" than the Metamora Redbirds are "Metamora". I honestly don't know how the communi...

https://twitter.com/pg_kindred/status/930108246538539010 i.e. He does not prefer the challenges that a public inner-city school poses. no Reggie I think that is a legit reason. He is a very religious person. When he was at PND, he became very much involved in the Campus Ministry programs and other ...

Are you just poking the 94 Knight bear??? I think all future Metamora games should be played on Saturdays at Babcook Field's field turf. This way MI fans can see both Washington and Metamora games all season long. Panthers on Friday, Birds on Saturday. Washington is a closer drive for me so it will...

Nor does Rochester in 4A. How many state titles in the last 7 years? Six if you are wondering and a good possibility of a 7th this year.

Re: Metamora Administration's handling of racist incident

I know this isn't exactly the same, but U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA) had a racial hazing incident at the prep school recently. The speech given to all the USAFA and prep school cadets by the commandant was definitely worth a listen. Hope the link is correct, if not, i'm sure it is on the internet ...

Were the police informed about any of this? Isn't that a crime? Shouldn't the school have reported this to the police as soon as they were aware of this?

GBG, stop by sometime and I can probably explain some of your questions. :) The ads are read at every football game, they have nothing to do with the Chiefs. PND has to make money for their athletic programs somehow. We don't get all that state aid like the public schools. ;) I would think a GBG du...

Re: Protests...

Any update on that law? How about US Code Title 36 Chapter 10.171? Also, there was a Supreme Court case back in 1989, TX v. Johnson, that said it was legal to burn the U.S. flag in protest. It was a 5-4 decision. I guess if you can burn the flag in protest, you can not stand for the anthem in prote...

Just a note about box scores, USA Today Sports Weekly puts all the MLB box scores in their weekly mag. because they were getting so much feedback. This kinda verifies Kirk's point.

I strongly doubt Streitmatter is at PND, at least not that I have heard. It was not an amicable parting. Dixson did transfer to Central for the spring trimester. I have heard he might be at MTHS this year.

Tuffy ran for Bergan not notre dame, hence not school record! It would be interesting if Notre Dame could embrace both Bergen and Spalding in their records - maybe not current records but maybe have a list of pre-merger days.... I remember reading a PJStar article a year or two ago that referenced ...

Not at all. Multiple teams have been contacted but unless one of those teams wants to play there is not much they can do. It was my understanding last fall that it would be Rock Island for a 1 year deal, this would fulfill their game that they dropped with MTHS when the Mid State joined their leagu...

Re: 2016 NFL General season thread (non-local teams)

LeRoy Butler was the first to do the Lambeau leap in 1993 against Oakland. It grew from there. I thought Elliott jumping into the bucket was kinda cool. Looked like a reasonable celebration to me. I don't have a problem with most celebrations as long as they are in relatively good taste and don't pr...
