Re: Dunlap Varsity Boys Basketball Coach

Will be interesting to see who they hire. I'd have to think it's getting down to it with Spring open gyms already starting for some schools.

Thomason resigned almost to the exact day that Barker resigned. Thomason was announced on 4/20.

Re: Joe Walters resigns @ Bloomington

Color me surprised PND has promoted an assistant :D

They've had good success in the last 6-7 years. I think it had a lot to do with the Shadid brothers, but continuity amongst the staff can't hurt.

Re: Mid Illini 17-18

Motteler is still at WCHS. Guedet is also still playing. While Washington lost two strong players, there is still talent there.

Motteler
Adrian Ware
Herseman
Guedet
Biedschied

Also hearing soph to be Dane Nuiekirk is doing well and will surprise some people.

Re: Manual Coach search

Ron Ingram was the first person that came to mind.

I don't know him personally and have not heard anything, but I know he did a great job at Manual when he was there and was very well liked. He's done a great job at MacArthur as well.

Re: TAYLOR BRUNINGA- ILLINI BLUFFS

ISU has a good team returning even with losing MM, TH, and PL.

I'd bet Taylor redshirts as he'll need to get much stronger...similar to Michael Finke at U of I.

Not to mention Yarbrough will come off redshirt and will compete for a majority of minutes at the 3 and 4.

Re: Morton Potters

I respectfully disagree with the thought that he is a history teacher that coaches part time. I'm sure Coach Franks applied for the vacant basketball position (not a history position) and was hired by the athletic director (not the superintendent). Yes, his primary job will be teaching history, but ...

Re: Morton Potters

Matt Franks of Tuscola announced to be the new hire for Morton. Don't know much about him, but they said he played for Jarrett Brown and coached with him briefly in the past at Tolono Unity. He's been the head coach at Tuscola the past 6 seasons with an overall record of 67-88 and a career coaching ...

Re: TAYLOR BRUNINGA- ILLINI BLUFFS

I'm sure BU staff has no opibion on Taylor because he was never seriously pursued. He wasn't pursued because A. They already have a commitment from Elijiah Childs, who is a very similar player B. They did not have any available scholarships Now I know an extra one became available when Suggs left, b...

Re: 2017 Large School POY

No offense to Altenberger, as he is a great player in his own right, but I am floored that this wasn't Devin Whitelow. -4 year starter (compared to 4 year varsity player for RA) and a consistent high level performer over those 4 years. Not to mention playing for one of the toughest coaches in the st...

Re: 3A Sectional Matchups

There were no complaints by Bloomington on any of the travel calls, so I'm guessing they probably were good calls.

Bloomington is a team that plays fast and in order to do that, you have to look past mistakes.

Hard to play 100 mph in a sectional championship and not travel a few times.

Re: 3A Sectional Matchups

I think Bloomington is a far more talented team than Washington. However, I think Washington has a better coach. I feel like Washington is going to have issues getting into sets with pressure and will have trouble scoring around the rim with a shot blocker like Payton down there. Washington is also ...

Re: Regional Scores

Metamora v Sterling should be a good game! Both teams are well coached. However, Metamora is down (from last year) and doesn't have the horses to keep up with Sterling. I imagine it'll be semi-close throughout the first 3 quarters, but Sterling will pull ahead in 2nd half and end up winning by doubl...

Re: 2016-17 Mid Illini

There is a big difference between winning the conference outright and sharing a title.

I'd argue that this is the most important game of the season for Washington (not counting regionals).

I'm sorry, but this is comical. Guys transfer every year and just about every single team has multiple transfers in their starting lineups. I didn't see Ruffin turning down Justus Harvey when he came knocking on the door. This stuff happens. I'm not going to play the "this school is better game", b...

Re: The Washington Panthers

Washington lost their best player in Lou Griffith (along with other supporting cast players, Everhart and Sharp), but there were 4 freshman playing solid varsity minutes including Collin Dietz and JJ Guedet, who are both much need post players for Washington this season. I'd assume all 4 will be rea...
