Re: Large School Cal Preps Projections 2018

Obviously these are "for novelty use only'. But a few observations: Big 12 Normal Community 9-0 (New coach but should be the class of the B12 again) Normal West 8-1 (8-1/7-2 seems about right) Peoria Notre Dame 6-3 (I'd say the Irish are in the 6-3/5-4 range) Peoria Richwoods 6-3 (Knights lose a TON...

Re: Mid Illini drops Sophomore Football

I guess my next question is who is coaching the JV game, the Soph coach? I guess I'm just a firm believer in Frosh/Soph games don't really matter and are meerily for practice. I played on an 8-1 Frosh team and a 9-0 Soph team....no one really cares about an undefeated Soph team. With Varisty numbers...

House-Are you coach JFL in Washington this season? If so let me know if your team plays Woodruff.

Re: Mid Illini drops Sophomore Football

I kind of saw this coming. However, I'm a bit surprised JV is Soph/Jr. I thought JV would be a Frosh/Soph combo.
Not sure why any Varsity Coach would want a Jr. playing down....but what do I know.

Re: Mid Illini Preview

Redbird CC-My thoughts exactly! Even for someone who has been going to games since 1980 like me, I would be less interested if the team I followed played a lot of teams I have no interest in. 6A by far has the most local teams grouped together. I also found it refreshing that Peoria2Chicago felt lik...

Re: Mid Illini Preview

Young Guns-Historically how has the Morton/Metamora series gone? I'll take the Potters again this year over the Redbirds but traditionally I'' take the 'Birds 8 out of 10 years. CIS-I would love for a RHS/Pekin Non conf game soon. Not sure why the two teams haven't. I think the two programs have alw...

Man, Redbirds would roll right through that schedule. 6A group sure looks fun though! However, not a fan of fixing things that are not broke.

Big 12 Preview

Whole lotta new coaches in 2018 for the Big 12. I'll start in Peoria...... Peoria High-Going back to the Woodruff days, Coach Thorton has always been able to develop a very good QB. Coran Taylor will be hard to replace but the Lions will find another good one. Offense should still be very explosive ...

Re: Mid Illini Preview

I may be a MS4/6/8/9/10 B12 guy but I have to say the MI in 2018 should be a lot of fun! Washington has too much back not to run the table and make another very deep run in the playoffs and definitely a contender to hoist a State Title. But spots 2-6 in the MI will be a very competitive log jam. I'm...

Re: Is the end near?

Because Flag Football teaches them to "grab", a habit that is hard to break when switching to tackle. I've been against Flag from the get go. IMHO the whole point of JFL is to teach proper technique. Same reason that the Frosh Football coach is one of the most important staff positions for a footbal...

First of all nice job Truth be Told for listings the specifics.
This just seems like a lot of work for something that doesn't (in my opinion) need fixed.

Re: 4-Class System

You are correct about none of us being there and I can't argue at all with that. However the change to a 4 class system IS what has hurt the attendance. Its been well docunented in stories time and time again by Illinois sports writers. Before there were large numbers of fans that came ever year reg...

Re: 4-Class System

I'm watching Alabama/Villanova as I type this...there is no one there either. I am not a fan of the 4 class system or the 8 class system in football and I think it definitely hurts basketball attendance. Lets be honest a drive down town Peoria in 1995 and in 2018 would look quite different. Down tow...

Re: No Excitement For Metamora?

Speaking of boards, I just check out of habit and it is far and few between. Spring is a pretty down time for the boards so it may be out of sight out of mind for me by the time football season rolls around. Also, I'm not a fan of a select few being able to delete and edit one poster's posts but the...

Re: Is the end near?

GBG- When I said "I didn't need 50 hours of Drivers Ed" I wasnt saying it was a waste. I was replying to the poster who said they have reduced the number of practice hours. Simply not true. I was trying to say that in 1992 the number of hours needed was much less. I should have worded it differently...
