Re: Eureka & Roanoke Benson Consolidation

While only in the "discussion" stage, if it were to go through I would have to assume the HOI Conference will show them the door. When Eureka was in consideration to join, one contingency was they disband their co-op with R-B in regards to sports. With a combined enrollment of 663(Eureka 493 ... R-...

Re: Geneseo and Sterling to WB6?

Why did the old conference (the NCIC) break apart? You had LaSalle-Peru, Dixon, Sterling, Ottawa, Streator together - I believe for awhile Geneseo was in the smaller division with Mendota, Hall, Rochelle and so forth but then switched to bigger NCIC. But anyway, LaSalle-Peru and the larger school g...

Agree with Reggie. WB6(8) and the Mid Illini should be in contact in regards to non-conf Football scheduling. Could really help themselves out.
Thanks, GBG! Next thing I am working on is a super conference by merging Peoria and Mid-Illini schools.

Re: 4-Class System

Robertson Fieldhouse used to be sold out for sectional finals and super-sectionals back from the 60's into the 90's. That was 7300 people. I went to a few of those and man it was exciting!I went to a Washington-Central sectional final several years ago at the new basketball center at Bradley. It wa...

Re: 4-Class System

I'm watching Alabama/Villanova as I type this...there is no one there either. I am not a fan of the 4 class system or the 8 class system in football and I think it definitely hurts basketball attendance. Lets be honest a drive down town Peoria in 1995 and in 2018 would look quite different. Down to...

Re: 4-Class System

Text from a friend at Carver right now ... "Marian might have less than 20 fans. North Chicago about the same. Sad." 4 class basketball has absolutely ruined the tournament. :gagr Just tuned in for a second. Carver is a freakin' ghost town!!! The IHSA needed Metamora this weekend. The 3A schools th...

Re: 4-Class System

IHSA needs to take 3A and 4A where the fans are- up north. I get the whole idea of wanting the state tournament centralized but it they ever want a chance of a nearly-packed house it is their only option. This is also why 5A-8A should find a permanent home in DeKalb...while moving 1A-4A back to Norm...

Re: Metamora vs Marian Catholic

Okay, now not wanting to get my head bashed in nor being a complete ***, Reggie you said "Both were well behind the line and are inexcusable incorrect calls. And how does the IHSA award this? With a state semifinal." Now I will ask again to your point - what could the IHSA do in this situation? Two...

Re: Metamora vs Marian Catholic

Boo Johnson and Mike Olson discussed the situation on different media platforms this week. Both agreed that there is a world of difference where kids are mentally in situation where the game is tied (and the worst scenario is overtime) and when a team is behind (where their worst scenario in this ca...

Re: Metamora vs Marian Catholic

I was not as bothered by the bad call until I saw the picture of Dietz’s shot that was ruled a two by the same official despite him being well behind the line as well. On both plays the same official was in a perfect place to see the play and make the correct call. Yet he blew them both...badly. Now...

Re: Metamora vs Marian Catholic

Scorekeepers and officials not getting it right and affecting games. Appears it is time for video replays. Hate to say that, but IESA and IHSA can’t allow this to continue. Leaders need to step up, not just continue to apologize for ineptness. Sort of agree after reading the IESA scoring mixup. Hav...

Re: Metamora vs Marian Catholic

I agree with Reggie, the IHSA got screwed this weekend. Metamora would have brought in a few thousand of their own and local fans. Marian Catholic will probably bring a decent crowd but that will add only several hundred....BTW, by the looks of the videos I saw of different points of the game, the ...

Re: Metamora vs Marian Catholic

Yikes, that wasn't even close. Did the refs discuss it or just let one guy make the call? Did the other two refs attempt to clarify which line the third ref saw? That's a very bad missed call... Any idea what the protocol for overturning a call is? On the radio today they speculated on whether a “h...

based on the number of people in attendance on friday night in lasalle-peru, i'd say there is a lot of excitement for metamora. i know there was for sterling, too. jim beam has it right - message boards are for us old guys. social media sites are where the young people hang out. best of luck to the...

Re: 3A Sectional Matchups

All season are different. Remember the Peoria sectional two years ago when Metamora came in as a one-loss team yet was likely the worst to to qualify for it? And they were an outstanding team which featured two D-I players. The path to the Super Sectional was no doubt easier this time around. The Pe...

3A Elite Eight - Includes 4 teams with 10+ losses and 2 more with 8+.
I am guessing that some of these teams have played fairly loaded schedules. With every team qualifying for the post season there is really no reason not to.

Is it the norm now forreferees to call fouls under the basket from 45 feet away while another referee is 4 feet away? And half court referee has players back to him--and calls hand checks? Among by biggest basketball pet peeves is when an official who is in perfect position and sees the play does n...

Re: 3A Sectional Matchups

It is there for Metamora to take. They just shouldn’t want stand up and say that they finally beat Washington at Torrey. They should want more. History says that they won’t take advantage of this break in a weak sectional. We will just wait and see if DG can take his team to the next step. In fairn...

After arguing with the ref, she threw money at him. A recently graduate of Metamora, who was also in the front row s...

Re: Mid Illini 17-18

The 1st T seemed warranted. From my vantage point the 2nd T came out of nowhere. The coach was shocked that it was called. Once it dawned on him that he was tossed, that's when he went nuts. King didn't call either T on the coach. It was a very ugly situation as the fans in the crowd were set to bl...
