Re: IHSA Football Schedules are up

Interesting set-up, but I think staying close to home (and playing teams that might not be exactly in your class) would have more priority. Sending EPG and Fieldcrest across the state to play Watseka and Clifton Central and sending Dee-Mack and Tremont to West Hancock and Illini West (just to name a...

Re: St. Louis Cardinals 2020

It really doesn't look like it's going to be workable to complete the season. Too many positives, too quickly. The NBA may be able to pull off a season, with their super-restrictive bubble plan, but I don't think the NFL or college football will be able to play, no matter what they do.

Re: IESA Restores Fall Sports

After the fall sports are over, winter sports (boys basketball, girls volleyball, and wrestling) won't start until January.
Girls basketball has been moved from October-November to March-April, where it will conflict directly with girls track.

Lots of "ifs" in their plan for 2020-21.

IESA Restores Fall Sports

If this year couldn't get any crazier, the IESA voted today (July 31) to restore the fall sports they cancelled a week ago. Teams can start practice next week, but no contests can be held before Saturday, Aug. 15. There also will be no State series beyond the first round. The IESA also modified the ...

Re: IHSA Announces New Schedule for 2020-21 Sports

What a cluster. The IDPH was suppose to take the lead, yet it appears the IHSA had to wait and follow Gov Pritzker and his guidelines. No offense, but what does his office know about scheduling sports. Nothing, and reading the PJS take it has only added to the confusion. Like, who’s on first?! It's...

IHSA Announces New Schedule for 2020-21 Sports

The IHSA sent out a press release Wednesday afternoon (7-29) moving some sports seasons and making other changes. Of immediate notice is that golf and cross country will be held in the fall and football and volleyball will move to the spring. Here's the basics: IHSA Board Approves Modified Schedule ...

Re: IESA Cancels Fall Sports

Bowing to politics, I’m sure shelter in place will once again be effective. Meanwhile I watched as 70 and 80 years olds, as many as 50 play pickle ball every day and it is ok. There is no sweat going on there! Never fear the IHSA will now follow, depriving all of these teenagers a chance to play sp...

IESA Cancels Fall Sports

From the home page of the IESA (Illinois Elementary School Association) https://www.iesa.org/ (Main points follow, more extensive release at website): The IESA Board of Directors held a special meeting on Thursday, July 23. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss fall sports and whether those acti...

How about a new poll for wave 1.5?
What I've discovered is I do not know what I do not know. Anyone who says they know with certainty how this will unfold is either from the future or is full of it.

Local school hadn't started contact days yet (They were supposed to start July 13 and just for fall sports. I suppose they will start with the new rules.) But the local rec department had a 12-game baseball tournament for 15-16 year-olds last week from Thursday-Saturday on one field. There is no con...

While a lot of the Power 5 schools will couch that they're looking out for the well being of the student-athletes, many of them don't wanna lose out on the TV revenue they get. Yes this...I wonder how the the SEC will respond. The political climate in those states is to continue as normal. Well, ac...

Re: Predictions for 2020 Mid Illini

IHSA director in one of his interviews says that switching has been considered, but there's a lot of logistical problems, so I don't think that will happen. Golf is really the only fall sport where you can keep social distance and even then, when you have tournaments, you have more than the 50 peopl...

After reading the Tribune article, I thought the change was pretty likely. We'll see if the change in venue helps attendance. Though it will be hard to make comparisons next year, since the format makes the radical change to one weekend instead of two. I really think we're at a point where if we can...

Depends how many contact days coaches get. If they end up with all 25, they can get their basics installed, even if they're a new coach. If they only get a handful of contact days or none, we're back to the old days and a lot simpler offenses and defenses, at least at the start of the season. The la...

Sort of think it will stay in Peoria, but wouldn't be surprised to see it moved. (A wishy-washy answer, but in Covid times, you can't be sure of anything.)
