EIU FB announces future FBS opponents including game at Illinois

As it stands, these are the future FBS opponents the Panthers will face:
-2018: Arkansas
-2019: Indiana
-2020: Kentucky
-2021: Mississippi State
-2022: Northern Illinois
-2024: Illinois

As I understand it, the Indiana and Illinois games would be allowed by the B1G if the schools only get 4 conference games at home that season.

I remember either the NIU Orange Bowl year or 1-game-from-Fiesta year, EIU gave them probably their 2nd or 3rd toughest game with Garoppolo. EIU led for awhile until Lynch led a surge late.

I love in-state FBS/FCS games. There was the one year Northwestern was an expected B1G contender and lost to Illinois St on a FG bouncing in.

That was the 1 game from Fiesta year for NIU. They got blown out by Bowling Green in the MAC Championship game.

EIU actually jumped out to a 20-0 lead midway through the 1st quarter. Garoppolo had 6 TD passes in that game that NIU ended up winning 43-39. The Panthers didn't have another loss (or game that close for that matter) for the rest of that season until the quarterfinal loss to Towson. That Towson game I think goes differently if the blizzard doesn't come through Charleston that day and severely limits EIU's vertical passing game.
