And Leitao likely doesn't coach the Blue Demons in that one if they don't randomly add in an extra game against U. of Chicago last week so that his suspension would be over before the Iowa game.

TAS, anything worth paying attention too in these tournaments leading up to and during Thanksgiving week?

Here's a secret I've discovered about them.

They obviously matter, but it's becoming impossible to predict the impact before the tourney starts. Everything depends on who you play and how good they are in March. What looks like a great win yurns inyo a nothing burger, while 5th place games in the consolation bracket turn into signature win chances.

So I've learned to not overanalyze going into these things.

That said, more than anything else, watch for upsets. Watch for who loses a chance to get a signature win as a result.
That's enough, Reggie Miller.

That's enough, Chris Webber.

And here we go:

It's early, but Dayton just took a crushing loss to their bubble hopes. Being an A-10 team, they needed Maui to provide them with signature win chances.

Va Tech beating Michigan St just cost Dayton their signature win chance.

A middling Georgia team just got a signature win chance dropped in their lap.
That's enough, Reggie Miller.

That's enough, Chris Webber.

Stephen F. Austin upsets #1 Duke at the buzzer 85-83.

First loss to a non-conference opponent at home for the Blue Devils since St. John's won back on February 26, 2000.

Duke was a 28 point favorite coming into the game.

The Lumberjacks lost by 12 at Rutgers last Wednesday and were ranked at #263 in KenPom coming into this game.

Also, I thought Chaminade was no longer going to be in the Maui Invitational. Am I crazy or does that start next year?

Chaminade is in the tournament in odd-numbered years. In even-numbered years, they play games on the mainland.

Michigan put a whoopin’ on UNC in the Battle for Atlantis.

Providence seems to be digging themselves into a bigger and bigger hole for a potential at-large bid.

DePaul wins at Minnesota.

8-0 for the first time in 33 years, and the 8 wins in a row the first time they've done that in 26 years.

They've won @ BC, @ Iowa, and @ Minnesota. At home they've beaten Central Michigan, Alcorn, U. of Chicago, FDU, and Cornell.

They host Texas Tech on Wednesday, in their first game this year with a major opponent at home.

They did all the digging against Northwestern; these last couple games is just putting up decorations in the hole to keep themselves entertained for the next few months.
