He didn’t mind taking the $4.5 million retention bonus first.

Went 7-1 or 8-0 5 of 6 years 2010-2015. It was great seeing a team like Michigan St atop the Big Ten those years.

He's also part of an ongoing lawsuit involving a former Michigan State recruiting director claiming that Dantonio and the Spartans had committed multiple NCAA recruiting violations though Dantonio today claimed that the allegations had zero impact on his decision to step down as he normally resets and evaluates the program every February and decided this was the right time to step down.

Someone isn’t doing their job updating the carousel thread.
Luke Fickell?
Brett Bielma?

Fickell signed a 4 star receiver yesterday. With the direction MSU is going I don’t know that he really wants to go there. Feels like a job you are likely to be fired from within 5 years

Bernstein is saying that they forced him out. The bonus might have been his “please go away” bonus.

Would not be surprising. Pretty pathetic if there is truth to the allegation he ignored the warnings he got from his staff and AD about Auston Robertson.

I had a hunch some of this would come out. It appears this is not a "retirement"

Sounding more and more like Fickell will be the new coach. I thought he would be smarter than taking this dumpster fire. Even if he did manage to turn it around he still has to deal with Ohio State, Pedd State and michigan in his division.
