An interesting aspect of summer ball when crossing state lines into Iowa. Our granddaughter plays for a team from Washington and this was their first game. There are two Quad City teams in this tourney. Rules are if you have at least 3 girls from Iowa on your team, you are allowed to be Iowa based, therefore they have been playing for quite a while. One of the teams we played was 16-4, other was 9-2. Just another example of why Illinois is so silly with their rules. We have a hotel and eat in Iowa for the weekend, revenue that could have been spent in Illinois. And that is just us.

Iowa started high school baseball and softball practice on June 1 and are supposed to start playing games this coming Monday.
Meanwhile in Illinois, high school players are forbidden to do any school-organized drills involving a ball...
The local city rec department is supposed to start in-house baseball and softball leagues for 6th-8th graders, starting June 26. That's supposed to be the start date for Phase 4. We'll see.

I saw little league baseball (or similar) taking place in a central Illinois park all day today.
The world is about to become a much more dangerous place. So is Illinois.

All of these Illinois teams are thrilled to be playing ball and eating INSIDE.

Great tourney and atmosphere in Mapleton this weekend at the 14U State Tourney. Well run and organized, after it was moved from Pekin, after I was told that officials there wanted late minute changes made in order to host tournament. I had never heard of Butler-Haynes Park until this weekend. A fine faculty and thanks to all volunteers who kept the tourney running on time. All should be proud of the way you treated fans and players. Bring it back next year!
