If they can blame guns for killing people then I can blame my keyboard for misspellings.

RHS/Woodruff was a lot more appealing then RHS at Canton...
Two teams that may have never played each other in football ever.

That makes sense. I imagine the keys to the alumni games are A) Young players and B) Quality linemen. Somehow how I imagine 30 WR/DBs signing up and all wanting to play WR. But I bet some alums like myself left as RBs but would now qualify as Guards and Tackles!

The Woodruff team had plenty of OL.

This should be a really good game. These games are about raising money and getting to play one more full contact game. Talk to the guys that have played and they will tell you how much fun it was even if they didn't win.

sterling alumni have been involved with this for a few years. not sure if they are still doing it. the novelty seemed to wear off pretty quickly.

most years, the sterling teams are made up of some guys who played football in high school and some who didn't. and even some who didn't attend sterling high school OR play football.

Actually both schools were part of the old Illini conference and played several times in the 1960's....in 1962, both teams were undefeated and met mid season before then record crowd in Canton - 6000. Richwoods won 12-6 or something like that. The coach for Canton? Tom Peeler - who would become coach at Richwoods in 1965.

CIS-My dad already beat you to the punch on that one and he even mentioned Peeler being Coach at Canton too! I forgot that Richwoods Township wasn't part of the district. Seems funny..or at least interesting that Washington and Limestone were in the MS Pick a number before Richwoods was. That being said, I hope Canton has a big turnout, both schools make money, and everybody has a safe good time. SEC Media days (and the lackluster play of the NL Central) have me ready for football!

Limestone and Richwoods were both part of the first ms-8 season in 1958. Washington was part of the old corn belt before joining the heart of Illinois conference in 1972. Washington joined the ms-9 in 1978.

I still have a sweatshirt that I had in Jr high that has the 1988 version of the MS9. Maybe if I can get a good pic of it, I will change my screen pic to that.
