Don't get it started, nut!

In all seriousness this surprises me with the recent Cat, etc job losses. I have good friends with 3 school aged children who recently left Washington (and Illinois) for better employment opportunities.

It sounded to me like people fleeing the state was common and kids were losing a classmate or two every week.

Keep in mind the enrollment was before Cat made the announcement.

Right but I'm not talking about execs moving to NW suburbs. I mean other job losses (mid-level managers, etc) which I think are much more impactful to the area and began long before the execs moved out of Peoria.

Hey that's what grade my kid was when transferred last year. Now my daughters class is in a trailer because there isn't enough room. It'll keep growing over here. I never dreamed it would be so nice. Everyone is so nice and it's a very active community, always people out walking, running or biking

Increasing enrollment is a good problem to have!

This isn't much of a surprise.
Washington, Morton, Metamora, and Dunlap have the benefit of being "not Peoria" along with being "not D150". Good schools, low crime and, yet, still a (big) small town.
While Dunlap had a population explosion, Morton and Washington have had steady and sustained population increase (despite the denials of the old :jokerc at L&B). Look at the number of Kindergarteners. That's tougher in Washington and Metamora because there are feeder schools. This growth isn't suspicious. Didn't they do a survey in Morton? I would be surprised if they didn't do one in Dunlap and Washington, too.

Washington is very attractive right now. They weren't in bad shape to start with but since the tornado, the reconstruction has actually made the town more attractive.
