Coach Joe Walters resigned from coaching football at Bloomington High School after 2 seasons. Always thought he was a really good coach

Very surprising. Bloomington with a back up QB played RHS very tough this year.

If he stays on at BHS as a teacher this will really bend them over in regards to getting a new coach. Pretty hard to support your family on coaching gig money only.

I favor capital punishment. But there are alot of cases where I don't think capital punishment applies (parking violations) and cases where it should be applied (murder, child molestation, illegal HS football recruiting).- BirdWatcher

I don't think he teaches. I believe he owns a business in construction.

no Reggie I think that is a legit reason. He is a very religious person. When he was at PND, he became very much involved in the Campus Ministry programs and other religious activities. This does not surprise me at all. His faith means a lot to him. Also, I think he worked at BHS, but not as a teacher. I think he does work for a construction company also.

I'm not disputing what you're saying, but if he's so religious and "faith-based", then why would he leave PND and take a job coaching at Bloomington High School, of all places?

Doesn't make much sense to me.

He lives in Bloomington and I think the travel back and forth got to him.

He has a landscaping firm in Bloomington. HS within walking distance of his house. Interest in providing his outreach and faith to a new area. Brought about change at PND and excited about doing the same elsewhere. Coaching position was open. All stated reasons when he took the position.

Add Normal West coach Darren Hess to the Intercity football coaches resigning. He was 96-56 in 15 years and made the playoffs 12 times.

Former Morton head football coach Eric Lyons is a PE teacher at BHS and has been an assistant on staff for BHS football for the past two years.

One of the BloNo area vacancies has been filled with Warrensburg-Latham head coach Scott Godfrey set to take over at Bloomington High School: http://herald-review.com/sports/high-sc ... 0f6c5.html

Godfrey's career record at Warresnburg-Latham was 22-27 over five seasons, leading the Cardinals to back-to-back playoff appearances the past two seasons while compiling a 13-9 record in those seasons. In 2016, Godfrey led the Cardinals to their first quarterfinal appearance since 1987.

Normal West has named Nathan Fincham as head football coach, pending board approval. Fincham has been a science teacher at West for six years and a football assistant for 11.

Well it looks like another Big12 school has hired a coach. Pat Armstrong was hired at Peoria Notre Dame - looks like he has been on the staff for a few years

Color me surprised PND has promoted an assistant :D

They've had good success in the last 6-7 years. I think it had a lot to do with the Shadid brothers, but continuity amongst the staff can't hurt.

I'm really surprised Walters didn't end up back at PND given his interest in the job and Twitter campaign.

"Twitter campaigns" matter?

It shouldn't, but with it being a private school pretty much deeply reliant on donors, I figured his public interest in the job along with prior success there would pretty successfully push the needle in his direction.
