Re: State Championship games 4A - 8A
6A and 8A games could be the best of the weekend.
I favor capital punishment. But there are alot of cases where I don't think capital punishment applies (parking violations) and cases where it should be applied (murder, child molestation, illegal HS football recruiting).- BirdWatcher

Hated to lose yesterday, but it’s kinda cool that Washington had 3 loses and both those teams are playing for the state title.
Sooooooo close to our only perfect week with perfect dual tie-breaker point totals of all time. U sir are a freakin' genius!!!

Very impressed with Morris, Congratulations! I really didn't expect that, now please do the same to Rochester! Very happy for the Redskins, as far as Phillips and Dunlap, all I can say is that Phillips defense is unreal, It's at a different level. I hope Dunlap can score and contain their Vanilla but effective offense. Good luck!
Re: State Championship games 4A - 8A
If the ihsa would do straight seeding, 1-32, championship games would be more competitive. Take 5a for example, would Dunlap even be playing saturday? Or would it be Sterling, lemont, Woodstock or even solario? Don't get me wrong I'm a mid illini fan, metamora fan but the southern bracket was not the strongest. Looking back, how many seconds would metamora have if the playoffs were straight seed? Majority of the time the 2 best teams in their respective class are not represented.

Re: State Championship games 4A - 8A
This is a much bigger problem in basketball than in football. This year is seeded 1-32 I believe Dunlap would have been the 3? You're saying they Could have lost sure but overall it is decently balanced. In basketball, it's all by location and regionals are decided very early in the season. I remember maybe 5 or 6 years ago. #2 manual played #4 Morton in the regional championship game in Canton. That manual team went to play Washington who was ranked with Peters, then the winner of that game went on to face central who won the state title. That sectionals top 4 teams was better than the final four. The football seeding isn't perfect, but it doesn't hit you with a terrible week 2 matchup if you're really a great team, barring weird records from should be undefeated teams, but nothing you can do about that

It's a shame the 2A game isn't going to be in Champaign this year. Given both schools proximity to the city, they could have drawn a pretty decent local crowd for that one.

In case Morris fans had any love left for kickers...

Re: State Championship games 4A - 8A
Kudos to Morris, if they would have got in the end zone one of the two other times they were in the red zone could have been a different outcome, but that's football, they fought their asses off, through much diversity, injuries, played with heart, they were the champions in my book, I would have given anything to see Rochester go down.
Re: State Championship games 4A - 8A
Congratulations to Rochester, the true and worthy champion. Congratulations to Morris, a tough team and a a good opponent.

Very Proud of the Redskins they had there chances a few missed plays a few missed penalties! But that being said you play your heart out and let the chips fall. And In the end the only thing I would ever want to be is a Redskin!!!

My very first thought was, “Oh, no, not again!”

Re: State Championship games 4A - 8A
For those of you that finally got a chance to see him, I wondered what you all thought of Rochester QB Nic Baker. I know his start wasn't impressive but he had a great year.
And believe it or not, he didn't get his first D-1 offer til this past week when he got an offer from SIU.

Re: State Championship games 4A - 8A
at least they are getting older.....wasn't the Metamora kicker a freshman? Rochesters was a soph I believe

Re: State Championship games 4A - 8A
Dunlap looked capable of moving the ball through the air. Loss of qb after the first drive going to make this game really really hard to turn around
Re: State Championship games 4A - 8A
Correct. Sure wish the Skins won that last night.
