2018 Pairings Night Thread

Post by Bluejaygrad03 » Sat Oct 20, 2018 7:55 pm

Getting this thread started a little later than I would have liked but it is what it is. The final regular season scores have been posted on the IHSA website as well as the 256 playoff qualifiers I'll also post each of the brackets in 4A-6A as well.

Final regular season scores and standings can be found here: http://ihsa.org/?url=/data/fb/timetable.htm

Here are the 256 playoff qualifiers: http://ihsa.org/?url=/data/fb/timetable.htm

38 points ended up being the cutoff this year. The final team in was Watseka as it came down to the 2nd tiebreaker (Defeated opponents' wins) with them and Harvey Thornton. Watseka had 13. Harvey Thornton had 12.

Among the teams from central Illinois that had their bubble burst include Decatur Lutheran, Rushville-Industry, Clinton, Tremont, Ridgewood, Nokomis, and North Fulton.

The football gods hate the Mid Illini!
I favor capital punishment. But there are alot of cases where I don't think capital punishment applies (parking violations) and cases where it should be applied (murder, child molestation, illegal HS football recruiting).- BirdWatcher

I don't see anyone beating JCA in the southern bracket. Looks like the IHSA wanted that SHG Chatum Glenwood match up, will be a nice gate$.

Not sure what Yorkville brings to the table against Dunlap, but I can't imagine a tougher matchup for Metamora or Washington.

The 1st(Washington), 2nd(Metamora) & 3rd(Dunlap)place teams in the Mid Illini will be one-and-done while the 4th place(Morton) team will be playing Football week 2 of the playoffs.

The IHSA $uck$. Pitting conference teams(Normal West vs PND as an example) against each other round 1 is horrendous. They've ruined the state basketball playoffs and are trying to ruin football as well.

FYI, I bet not everyone in Metamora hates their draw. I bet Coach Grieves and his assistants are ecstatic!!! :score

Not sold on the Generals out of Decatur? I know they have a darn good defense this year.

PS ... Wouldn't surprise me terribly to see Morton lose to MacArthur but I feel they have the best chance to advance. Redbirds would have been better off losing a 2nd game.

Decatur MacArthur - Some very good frontline players but no depth. Good speed, Good RB's, WR's, QB can run and scramble but throwing mechanics and accuracy are shaky. Defense - THEY HIT, very aggressive, LB #33 good, FS #21 - DI ability. It seems they play good enough to win. Do not know how they played in their loss vs. SHG (7-2), but their two other losses vs. 8-1 Chatham and 8-1 Rochester, they played pretty good. They also held a explosive 6-3 Springfield High team to 6 points. It would not surprise me if they make it to the 2nd or 3rd round

Yorkville’s two losses were to Sycamore and DeKalb. They had a 13 point win over Morris and a 17 point win over Kaneland. Not a threat to win the title but I believe good enough to send the Eagles into the off-season.

If Metamora or Washington bow out nobody can say it was to a weak opponent.

Never change, IHSA.

Actually, on second thought, change, IHSA. Change it all.
That's enough, Reggie Miller.

That's enough, Chris Webber.

Not too excited about Morton playing at Decatur MacArthur. Their 3 losses:
Rochester 22-14
Chatham 39-32
SHG 38-13
Most likely one and done for Potters.

I will be shocked if any MI team plays past last weekend. Tough draws all the way around.

6:00 ... Interesting. Wonder why so late??

Well, maybe NLP/Washington play at 1 or 2 and Central IL fans can see 2 ball games separated by 8 miles.

Let's shut down the newbies before they start, NO...
No they will not move both games to The Stadium and play a doubleheader as part of a kickoff celebration announcing the formation of a Super Conference merging the Mid-Illini with the Mid-State 4 1/2.
