It pains me to say this but you are correct. And some parents are questioning it also at the last board meeting.
Another parent associated with ISB Washington branch playing coach/administrator instead of sticking to his day job. All that advertising money given to the school must not be paying off. Hopefully someone in IPAVA is taking note.

She has 0 experience playing or coaching and it shows. Washington will finish at the bottom. She was hired bc of her husband.
Who is her husband?

You are the second poster to say she has "0" experience playing or coaching, so what equates to experience? I think she was a player, has coached at one club and 3 large high schools.

Washington is bad FWIW. Might have something to do with a coach who had -0- experience playing or coaching the sport. The hire makes no sense at all. :XXblah-doh2

.... especially considering some of the candidates that threw their hat in the ring for the job. Some really good applicants!!

Her "playing experience" ended about freshman year of hs. and your other info is incorrect.

Heidbreder spent last season as an assistant coach under Chuck Heinz, who after eight seasons and 182 wins was given ‘non-reemployment’ at a January school board meeting. The Panthers went 25-12, finished third in the M-I last season and are expected to return all-league players Sam Garcia and Brynn Nieukirk.

Prior to Washington, Heidbreder spent two years as a Normal West assistant coach and a three-year volunteer assistant at Carterville.

‘She brings that knowledge and maturity to keep the program headed in the right direction,’ Knoblauch said.

The Washington special education teacher is the wife of Washington District 51 superintendent Dale Heidbreder.
This is from a story I did from April 2016.

What equates experience? At a hs the size of Washington I would say playing beyond the jr high level. Minimal a stand out high school career, optimal a college career. I would also think head coaching experience would be required or minimal years of paid assistant coaching experience at a large school or college. This coaching experience having occurred in the last decade at least. For what ever reason the administration went with the least qualified candidate. The kids deserve better.

I was going to say - didn't this person hired by Washington have several years experience at the underclass level at Washington and Normal West? Or did I read that wrong?

at the halfway point...

Mid-Illini standings
7-0 Metamora (Morton, Washington, Canton, Limestone, Dunlap, Pekin, East Peoria ... )
6-1 Limestone (East Peoria, Morton, Washington, Canton, Pekin, Dunlap ... Metamora)
5-2 Pekin (Dunlap, Canton, East Peoria, Morton, Washington... Metamora, Limestone )
4-3 Morton (Dunlap, East Peoria, Canton, Washington... Metamora, Limestone, Pekin)
3-4 Dunlap (East Peoria, Washington, Canton ...Pekin, Morton, Metamora, Limestone)
2-5 Washington (Canton, East Peoria... Metamora, Limestone, Dunlap, Pekin, Morton)
1-6 East Peoria (Canton... Limestone, Dunlap, Pekin, Morton, Washington, Metamora)
0-7 Canton (... Pekin, Washington, Metamora, East Peoria, Limestone, Morton, Dunlap)

-Metamora is definitely in the drivers seat as they go undefeated in the first round.
- Limestone can get even with Metamora. They get another crack at them Oct 10th.
- Pekin will need help to get back in the race and finish strong as they get Metamora and Limestone the last two conference matches.
- Morton and Dunlap could get back into the race but catching Metamora and/or Limestone will be difficult. They may just play spoiler to the teams ahead of them.

Let me know if I missed anything

Well, decided to go down to 101 W. Madison tonight and check out Lady Redbirds Volleyball. Wife says to me, "You better not be bad luck. Haven't lost in conf. at home all year and you haven't been there." Washington comes out in Set 1 and plays the best Volleyball they've played all year. This according to a starters Mom. Lady Panthers win Set 1 16-25. So, I tell our ex-Supers wife the story and say I better go home as I'm apparently bad luck. Lady Birds win Sets 2 & 3 25-19, 25-13. It's confirmed, I'm bad luck! Of course, she's been telling me that for years!!! :(

I'm sure Limestone and Pekin will get you front row seats for their upcoming games with Metamora.

Gosh, I hope the school maintains these high standards the next time they have to hire a football coach! He played JFL. He might have been an assistant over 16 years ago and he was a volunteer helper at Tiny town HS before coming to Washington. LOL

Does anyone have the score of the Canton/Metamora game? I heard through the grapevine that someone saw in the Canton paper that the Little Giants won  ...is this correct? I feel like I would have see that in bold print if true.

With Limestone's win over Metamora Tuesday, they jump into a 2-way tie for first. Pekin plays Limestone and Metamora to finish conference play next week and needs to sweep to possibly force a 3-way tie at the top. That's assuming all three win their matches tonight. Should be an exciting finish to the season.

Pekin (11-2) beats Metamora (11-2) and Limestone (12-1) beats Dunlap. Limestone guanteed a share of 1st and can win outright with a win against Pekin Thursday night at home on Senior night. A Pekin win on Thursday creates a 3-way tie for first with Metamora, Pekin, and Limestone sharing the title.
