Canton results: https://www.athletic.net/CrossCountry/R ... eet=134777

Canton girls might be a factor in the conference race before it is over. Mirande from Limestone ran a strong race as well.
Pekin guys look good early, as does Elmwood.
Next weekend will clear a lot of early season speculation up. See everyone at Detweiller!

Metamora boys and Dunlap girls, then everyone else.

I'd second that. Almost sounds like me. #straightforward

I don't follow as closely as I used to do, but from what I have seen on the boys side I think East Peoria, Pekin, and Morton will be close together 2-4 with Dunlap having a shot around 4 as well. I might be selling Washington short though as I think their middle school programs are starting to feed in some quality runners. Limestone seems to do as well as they can with the limited numbers they draw, and Canton will likely barely scrape together enough runners for a team score.

Elmwood boys would have been 10th in 2A race (approximation)--without spikes. Not sure how many teams spiked up are what impact they would have had yesterday. Last year was a mud bowl and this year there was dust everywhere. Dunlap girls are impressive.

Is there any grass left on the Detweiller course?

Dylan Jacobs 13:57 at detweiller today going thru 2 miles in 9:10. 3 weeks ago Danny Kilrea ran 14:02. The two of those could push by Craig Virgin's course record. I hope Dylan doesn't go out any faster than 430 so Kilrea can stay with him early thru 1 mile. Kilrea doesn't have Jacobs 1600 leg speed but he has a motor that keeps going. Funny thing is both are peaking for Nationals 6 weeks later! I'd pick Jacobs by 8 seconds. #talent

Dunlap vs Belvidere for state xc title is getting close. Belvidere took 6 of top 7 spots at regionals. Talk about two great teams about to race for a state title a little over 10 days away. In my eyes both teams are co favorites after belvidere regionals.

After sectionals belvidere 5th girl not strong. If she doesn't break 1830 belvidere loses. I doubt she does So I go with Dunlap depth making the difference 12 point victory. Hopefully Dunlap 3rd they 5th girl run together to at least 1.5 miles if not the whole race. Macy Dunlap 6th girl beats Belvidere 5th girl which I believe she will.
