After watching Dunlap's girls dominate the Honor Roll meet tonight, I started wondering when the explosive growth in the Dunlap district will push them into Class 3A for track. Anybody know?

Likely next year. The line this year was 1301 and Dunlap was at 1281. The line has been dropping, a product of smaller schools adding or restarting track programs, and Dunlap's school population growing, projected to be 1321 for next year's calculations. IHSA usually releases classifications in late June/early July, but it won't surprise anyone when Dunlap is 3A in track, following in Washington and Peoria High's footsteps this year.

If Dunlap was 3A this year, any idea how they would have placed at the 3A state meet? The girls track program right now is awesome at the 2A level! Also, I wish basketball would go to 3 classes instead of 4 - it would makes things a little more interesting to me...

Done quickly so if anyone wants to correct me, feel free. Using times from finals only, Dunlap would have scored 29 points in 3A and would have been in 6th, maybe 5th, overall as a team. They would have finished second in both the 4x1 and 4x2, fifth in the 100, sixth in the 100 hurdles, and eighth in the 200 and 4x4.

That's impressive....it would be kind of cool if they did go to 3A if they could get enough to win the 3A title -

Things really change. I can remember going to a number of Class A Sectionals at Dunlap in the old days when there were two classes and back then they were about the size of Eureka.

If 3a dunlap strinters score well just not the distance 4 by 800 and up zero points. 3a distance is that darn competitive. even Cambell Pederson state champ 2a not even in top 15 time wise for 1600. 3a is just that deep!
