MI Girls

Post by CIS » Tue May 02, 2017 7:34 pm

Metamora beat Pekin tonight 1-0. It was just pekin's second loss of season and first in conference. It was also first goal scored on Pekin in league play. Metamora and Dunlap are 3-0-3 while Pekin is 4-1-1. Teams get 3 points for win and 1 point for tie. So if Pekin beats Limestone next week they will win conference for first time. However if they tie or lose, they will fall to third place! Pekin, Dunlap and Metamora are all quality teams....

Congrats to Pekin and Coach Sandoval. I don't suspect they will lose to Limestone, so they can ride a conference title into the playoffs. You are right that the conference this year has three solid teams.

You were right - Pekin beats Limestone to win their first soccer title. Congrats to the lady dragons....I believe they outscored league opponents 27-1 or something like that with Metamora scoring the only goal. Coach Sandoval does an excellent job year in and year out. Dunlap and Morton tie for second with Washington taking third. I didn't realize it, but if Washington had won last nights game with Morton they would have shared title with Pekin. But Potters took hard fought contest and with the loss the Panthers dropped from potential title share to third place. So congrats to all four teams for having good seasons. I guess the MI has FOUR solid teams this year! :D

Does this look correct?
Pekin 5-1-1 (16)
Metamora 4-0-3 (15)
Morton 4-1-2 (14)
Dunlap 3-0-3 (12)
Washington 3-2-1 (10)
Limestone 2-5-0 (6)
Canton 1-6-0 (3)
East Peoria 0-7-0 (0)

Dunlap vs Washington yet to be played?

Yeah, for some reason I forgot about Metamora in the standings - and they were the only team to beat the Dragons. The Redbirds know how to play Pekin with a very defensive type game. I knew that Metamora beat Pekin and was a very good team but for some reason forgot to list them in my post. My deepest apologies! So actually if Washington ties or loses to Dunlap they will fall from potential co-champs to fourth or fifth place in one week span! That could hurt a bit with the all league trophy. So actually the MI has FIVE quality soccer teams. Heck even Limestone (2-5 in league) is 9-9 overall!

No problem here. Just trying to track for All Sports points. Hoping for a tie in that final game. ;)

Dunlap beats Washington 7-0.
And thus Washington tumbles from potential co-champs to fifth place. That's a big OUCH for the all sports trophy and a loss of several hundred points!

Pekin lost an exciting overtime game to a good Minooka team. Dragons scored with 13 seconds left to send game into overtime....was hoping this would be the year to win a regional but not to be. But great season Dragon girls!
