Hoping for a good sized crowd tonight.......with only one game, well, we'll just have to see.
Look back but don't stare.

Galesburg 52 Metamora 34
http://www.galesburg.com/sports/2017111 ... irds-52-34

Meta 12-16-24-34
Gale 16-29-45-52

Announcer's Stats
Legge- 10pts., 1 2pt. FG, 2 3pt. FGs, 2-3 FTs, 1 reb, 4 assists
McCarthy- 2 reb, 3 assists
Sampson- 14pts., 4 2pt. FGs, 2 3pt. FGs, 4 reb, 1 steal
Meinert-12pts., 3 2pt.FGs, 6-8 FTs, 6 reb
Mixon-14pts., 7 2pt.FGs, 6 reb, 2 steals, 2 blocks
Range-1pt., 1-2 FTs, 9 reb, 1 steal
Campbell-1 reb, 1 steal
Lingafelter-1pt., 1-2 FTs, 2 assists
15-26 2pt.FGs, 4-11 3pt.FGs, 10-15 FTs Reb- Gales 35(12) Meta 19(11) TOs- Gales 21 Meta 13-+16 Reb overcame -8 TOs.

1st Qtr.
-M- m-t-m-
-Gales consistently finding Meinert, Mixon inside
-Gales up 12-4; numerous chances to expand lead; 8 TOs in qtr.; almost all lack of concentration, forcing ball into post in traffic.
-16-12
2nd Qtr.
-Sampson, Legge getting inside off dribble
-Meinert, Mixon running floor well
-Gales controlling glass; Mixon, Range very active at both ends; weakside reb.
-At 16-14- Gales 10pt. run
Meta- came out in press around 2 min.-1 TO
Half-Reb- Gales 15 Meta 5; Gales 11 TOs
3rd Qtr.
-M- 3/4 court press- didn't really hurt Gales much
-M- 2-3 zone-Sampson and Legge shot them out of it
-Meinert continues running floor hard
-Meta-back to m-t-m at about 3 min.
-45-24
4th Qtr.
-Meinert continued to be presence all over the floor; non-stop motor
-Meta- press last 4 min.-Gales got flustered, pace too fast- 2-3 TOs
-Gales- shaky execution of working the clock
-52-34

As I have said, Gales has a major problem with execution against pressure defense; does not bode well for Saturday vs. Springfield and Tuesday vs. Rock Island. Gales will get a realistic sense of where they are right now.

Just watched Danville Schlarman and Springfield. Springfield is quick, deep, size inside. Press full court,m-t-m half court;PG is very quick, good dribble penetration; 2 6'0" Fs-Built like linebackers, but quick feet, agile, both can handle ball in space, run the floor; good shooter on wing.

The game-having said the above:
Early on, looked like a rout; Springfield's press, dominance inside-9pt. lead middle 2nd qtr.; Scheffler took off the press-why? Schlarman better executing offense, came back to down 30-28 at half.

3rd Qtr.-Schlarman made some adjustments-cut down TOs, took away post touches; better on boards, cut down Springfield 2nd shots. Schlarman up 44-40 after 3 qtrs.
4th Qtr. Schlarman opened up 48-42 lead around 3:30; Springfield press forced couple turnovers-7-0 run 49-48; up to this point, Peoples had just let the game come to her; now she controlled the offense every possession; Peoples drive-50-49; Schlarman went 2-3 zone; defensive stop; Schlarman starts working clock; Springfield foul- Peoples 2 FTs 52-49; defensive stop; Peoples 2FTs closed out the game-54-49.

Galesburg's next 3 games are-Springfield tonight, at Rock Island Tuesday, Schlarman next Saturday. If Galesburg doesn't tighten up their ball handling, it could be a 3-game losing streak.

Springfield 57 Galesburg 31

Spring 11-30-44-57
Gales 07-19-25-31

Announcer's Stats
Legge-1 pt., 1-3 FT, 3 assists, 1 steal
McCarthy-2 pts., 2-4 FTs 2 reb, 1 assist, 3 steals
Sampson-7 pts., 1 3pt. Fg, 4-4 FTs, 3 reb, 1 block
Meinert-10 pts., 3 2pt. FGs, 4-7 FTs, 6 reb, 1 block
Mixon-4 pts., 2 2pt. FGs, 2 steals
Range-2 pts., 1 2pt. FG, 6 reb, 2 blocks
Campbell-3 pts., 1 3pt. FG, 4 reb, 1 steal, 1 block
7-31 2 pt. FGs, 2-9 3 pt. FGs, Reb G-38(13) S-27(4), TOs G-25 S-12

No point in going into any specifics. Springfield dominated Galesburg in every way-quickness, strength, aggression. Galesburg hardly ever got a clean offensive set-hands in face, digging at the ball, bodying up on ball handlers and cutters. Inside-intimidation; hurried, forced shots, changed shots.

Danville Schlarman 51 Galesburg 22
http://www.galesburg.com/sports/2017112 ... pers-51-22

Schlrm 14-27-38-51
Galesb 13-15-17-22

Announcer's Stats- Very skimpy (just as well); Station went right into the boys' pregame immediately after game ended.
Legge-2 pts., 2-2 FTs
McCarthy-7pts., 2 2pt. FGs, 1 3pt. FG
Sampson-3 pts., 1 2pt. FG, 1-2 FTs
Meinert-6pts., 2 2pt. FGs, 2-2 FTs, 4 rebs
Mixon-4 pts., 2 2pt. FGs
7 2pt. FGs, 1 3pt. FG, 5-6 FTs, TOs Gales 20 Schlarm 5

-S came out m-t-m; went to 2-3 extended zone start of 2nd qtr.; stayed in it rest of game. All you have to do is look at the score by qtrs. to see how that worked out.

Announcers:"...Worst offensive showing in years...Totally befuddled...Guards not ready to catch-and-shoot...No idea how to attack 2-3 zone...".

Guess what they're going to see the rest of the season.
Sure, Springfield, Rock Island, and Schlarman are very good teams, but none of those games was even remotely competitive- 29.7pts. margin of loss; 22.3 TOs/gm.
There had better have been a lot of players in that locker room after the game taking a long hard look at themselves in the mirror.
