Played pretty good for 3 quarters. Only won by 2 but much better than losing by 19 like during Pekin tourney at least.

Washington was up by 19 at one point. If I remember right, Pekin was scoreless for 11 1/2 minutes. Great comeback for Pekin. Washington held onto the ball to long and never attempted to score. That I believe killed them.

Nice addition with Kameron Motteler. Washington was a different team tonight. Nice to see them playing like they did at the beginning of the season.
Sooooooo close to our only perfect week with perfect dual tie-breaker point totals of all time. U sir are a freakin' genius!!! :smart ... :salute ... :notworthy

Limestone handled Canton pretty easily.

Pekin basketball the last several years is a mere shell of what once was a consistently good program. But I will say this, I love the effort that the team puts up and I think coach Walraven is doing a decent job coaching a pint size team that is limited talent wise. It's not Walraven's fault that the talent and size has dried up in Pekin. The team plays hard and that is all you can ask...except for a 6'6 inside player! :D

Great comeback by Metamora at Richwoods tonight. The Birds trailed 28-14 in the second quarter but managed to scrap back and force OT. In OT they outscored the Knights 12-2 for a 58-48 victory. Persich and Wallace were outstanding and the pressure the Metamora guards put on in the 4th quarter helped the Birds claw their way back.
I favor capital punishment. But there are alot of cases where I don't think capital punishment applies (parking violations) and cases where it should be applied (murder, child molestation, illegal HS football recruiting).- BirdWatcher

I thought #12 Hayes also had a good game for Metamora, it was a total team effort for the Birds.

Richwoods has now lost two straight OT games to MI teams (Pekin-Metamora). And like Metamora, Pekin had to comeback to get to overtime. Knight need to learn how to close games out. Big win for Central over Morton...

Respectfully disagree that they were big wins as Richwoods is not very good. A very poor IVC team also defeated the Knights this season. During the Hammerton, Darling, or Ellis years, then I would have to agree. Smith years, not so much :pale

Remember back in the day when they would be in the paper at least once per week?

I don't get it.....it's a paper of national news now....with not much local. A couple clicks of the mouse and we can get the NBA/NHL standings. But the local conference standings are somewhat of a mystery. Have we ever seen conference standings for wrestling?

And that is THE reason I dropped my daily subscription after 30 plus years to just Sunday delivery after the recent price hike. Can skim it in 2 minutes because it's nothing new / local. Heck the local stuff is old because it's already been on local TV
Don't miss it a bit and may drop Sunday also. I would suggest gatehouse news focus on giving us what we don't get. In depth local sports and news. Costs more to produce but would save subscribers. Don't need the national stuff or the syndicated editorials.

We dropped our subscription entirely last year and do not miss it a bit. I get the paper the day after high school football games but that is it. Outside of obituaries and Kirks and Jerks it is worthless most days.

Have we determined if the PJS ever printed the Mid-Illini all-conference team? I do not recall anybody talking about it.

I asked that question on the Large School Football Board.Thought I was the only one that missed it but it appears it was never was published. How does that happen? Another example was the Washington-Kankakee ball game last Saturday, It was at 5:30 and yet no score in Sunday's paper. Didn't find out score until Tuesday when someone posted it on message board. Not enough people on staff I guess

Newspapers have no staff left at all. If you want your schools score and box score the school has to call/email it in. At least that's the deal with most sports not called football.
This is imported Italian nylon and it's a special edition limited silk print and it was done by this really famous design artist.

I was just hoping someone knew. I figured PJStar had box scores. Guess not. I tried going to maxpreps and figure this out but they are missing games as well.

By memory, Washington is 12-5 (6-0) with Mahomet today.

And sets up an almost dream scenario for the Mid-Illini with Washington playing at the Potter Dome on the final night of the regular season with a chance to deny Morton a share of the conference championship. Sometimes the schedulers get lucky.
