Teams - Regionals

Post by Norm@Hickory » Mon Feb 06, 2017 3:32 pm

What are the 4 sites hosting the regionals that feed into the Peoria Sectional Tournament and which teams are going to be playing at each of the regional sites? Can somebody fill in these blanks. Looking forward to March Madness. Best of luck to all of the area teams.

Regional hosts will be Peoria High, PND, Bloomington, and Rock Falls.
I favor capital punishment. But there are alot of cases where I don't think capital punishment applies (parking violations) and cases where it should be applied (murder, child molestation, illegal HS football recruiting).- BirdWatcher

And among the Peoria area teams at those regionals, Limestone, Canton, East Peoria, Galesburg, Morton, Manual and Washington will be heading to either Peoria High or Bloomington while IVC, Dunlap, Metamora, and Richwoods will be heading to either PND or Rock Falls.

Thank you Reggie. So then it would look something like this:

Peoria High
Central
Manual
Limestone
Galesburg
Macomb

PND
PND
Dunlap
Richwoods
Metamora

Bloomington
Normal U-High
Morton
Washington
East Peoria

ihsa separates the 1 and 4 seeds and the 2 and 3 seeds in the subsectional.

for the notre dame and rock falls regionals (which make up one subsectional), here are the current w/l records:

rock falls 17-7 (host)
sterling 16-7
mendota 14-11
dixon 13-10
lp 12-9
notre dame 10-14 (host)
geneseo 9-8
richwoods 6-14
metamora 6-14
dunlap 5-21
ivc 4-17

sterling will likely be at notre dame for "regionals"

This is the sub sectional

Sub-Sectional A
Bartonville (Limestone)
#Bloomington (H.S.)
Canton
East Peoria
Galesburg (H.S.)
Macomb
Morton
Normal (University)
#Peoria (H.S.)
Peoria (Manual)
Washington

I would guess Washington would be the #1or #2 seed and would go to Peoria High as Bloom will probably be #1 or #2 and Hosting a regional.

Just a guess, but given the seeding, hosting & geographic formula, this is what one might expect to see:

Peoria High

#2 seed Washington (bye) #3 seed Normal U-High (bye)
#7 seed Peoria Central vs. #10 seed East Peoria #5 seed Peoria Manual vs. #8 seed Canton

Bloomington

#1 seed Bloomington (bye) #4 seed Morton vs. #6 seed Galesburg
#9 seed Limestone vs. #11 seed Macomb

PND

#1 seed Sterling (bye) #4 seed Geneseo vs. #6 seed Peoria Richwoods
#8 seed #PND vs. #11 seed IVC

Rock Falls

#2 seed Rock Falls (bye) #3 seed LaSalle-Peru (bye)
#7 Mendota vs. #10 seed Dunlap #5 seed Dixon vs. #9 seed Metamora

Best of luck to all teams!

I would venture to say Sterling and Rock Falls will make it out of the PND and Rock Falls Regionals, although Geneseo could sneak in there. I am taking the hosts to win the Bloomington Regional, but if Morton happens to be hitting from outside the arc and Bloomington is overlooking them bad, they might be able to pull the upset. I am still unsure on the Peoria High Regional winner, as I've seen top seeded Washington look both pretty good, and pretty bad this season, they are not as dominating as many of the Panther teams in recent years. Manual is the ironically the wild card this season, as there are still several unanswered health questions heading into the post-season that could greatly affect that regional's outcome. They are still the most athletic team in the field, and dangerous as always at tournament time. Central looked pretty bad against a weak Richwoods team last night in a loss, but I have seen this same Lions team look more than capable of beating anyone in the field (Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde). This is all assuming that the IHSA places the teams at these locations, we should know something around 4pm today. None the less, this season's rendition of March Madness appears to be much more wide-open than what it initially would have been had the Manual team not suffered so many devastating injuries. I feel real bad for Coach Booth and his troops (especially the injured kids), but it does make for much more dramatics & suspense in Central IL. Looking forward to the tournaments. Picking which match-ups to go watch is going to be a serious challenge for me.

Thank you for the update on the sites and game-time schedules Bluejaygrad03 :Zhoop. I tried to guess, but failed, :cycani This is one of those crazy years. It looks pretty cut and dry which teams should advance, but I am calling for upsets in this season's rendition of March Madness. I am going to fill out my bracket and submit by next weekend.
