Or the Peoria Lions....didn't think so.

Ironically, it appears that the majority of the late posts in this thread are from those who aren't Panther fans :scratch

Hence the Name of the posting folder "Washington Panthers". There are other threads with different titles I believe.

I do not dislike the Washington Panthers--it is not like the coach is going to turn players away. Players have been shifting schools for decades and not just in this area. My kids play in 1A and I enjoy the fact that the kids have been playing together since they were in 3rd grade. But, that is just my personal preference. I have seen the Panthers play and I enjoy watching them play.

It's harder at a big school to play with all the same kids since third grade. When I was at Pekin once you get to high school you get guys from several other junior highs on the team and quite a few were rival junior highs and then you are all on the same team. Hard to get used too at first. Washington has quite a few junior highs even. It's about impossible to have the same group playing together since third grade even if all the kids grew up in Washington.

The beauty of playing 1A basketball at the lower level. :td

That doesn't happen much any more at the 3A level. Kids get bypassed by more talented lower level kids, they give it up to concentrate on another sport, or they simply focus on other things(jobs, girls, cars, whatever).

4 feeder schools / junior highs feed into WCHS. So yeah maybe 3-4 kids from each school then at varsity even less

Good point on larger schools having multiple feeder schools.

Washington beats Pekin 44-32 and gets to a 20 win season for the eleventh time in thirteen years under Coach Brown.

Washington rolled the Raiders on the road last night 68-41 to set the stage for another outright M-I conference title next Friday night in the Potter Dome. Better get there early or you won't get in. This is a must see game. In the end, it's too much W&W (Whitelow & Ware) Washington by 10

Panthers need to stay out of foul trouble. One thing they don't do well is adjust to how game is being called. Can't have DW fouling out with 5 minutes to go in 4th like last week. If they manage this, I like their chances. Gotta make FT's too. Been a problem

Funny that you should mention fouls and free throws. Same has hurt Potters this year. If you look at bench strength, it favors Panthers. Potters are not deep. Like both coaches. Both will be well prepared. Fans need to be prepared also. Police had to escort Pekin and EP adult fans out of last 2 home games.

Should be a good one. Potters will be tough to beat at home. If game is officiated tight, think it favors home team.

In other words, Washington isn't as good when they aren't allowed to play mug and thug.

Potters win 40-36 to share the MI title.
I favor capital punishment. But there are alot of cases where I don't think capital punishment applies (parking violations) and cases where it should be applied (murder, child molestation, illegal HS football recruiting).- BirdWatcher

Yes. The officials forced the Panthers into driving the lane out of control on numerous occasions and forcing them to call charges.

Game was one of the classics in the Potterdome. I thought officials called a tight game 1st half, then let them play a little more 2nd half. Credit to the crew for letting the players decide the game.
