Journal Star-area rankings..
1A-2A
1. Princeville 21-1
2. Eureka 20-8
3. Illini Bluffs 12-2
4. Tremont 17-7
5. Brimfield/Elmwood 16-4
How is North Fulton who is 16-2 and beat B/E not on that list? Who votes on that?

North Fulton isn't considered in the Journal Star 'metro' area.
Trust me. It's as confusing as it sounds. But try and stay with me.
There are 23 schools in the JS 'metro' area. These towns make up the bulk of our circulation, so the schools within these towns are consider them to 'metro' schools. The rest of the school are considered Journal Star-area fringe schools, so they won't make our rankings.
HOWEVER...
Players outside of the 'metro' area are still eligible to be on the All-Area team or named Player of the Year. In fact, Jill Berg of Midwest Central was named the small-school girls basketball POY, but MC isn't a 'metro' school.
Make sense?

Re: North Fulton Wildcat Softball
That is an unfortunate fact. If 100% of those in our small town subscribed to your paper (I do), we would still not be ranked, no matter what, we are too small in numbers. However, our small town communities cover much more than just the small towns they are near which might help in the numbers of subscribers.Adam Duvall wrote:Those two being in the same conference have nothing to do that.Gus Riley wrote:Some sense here, except that NFW and Brimfield/Elmwood are in the same conference(s). I guarantee you if that was the case North Fulton would be ranked at least No. 3- ahead of both Brimfield & IB.Gus Riley wrote:That is an unfortunate fact. I have nothing against NF. They just fall outside our metro (core) circulation area. Looking at their road to EastSide, it appears they have a very winnable regional, but will be definitely tested in the sectional with Princeville, Biggsville West Central or Galva and either Lewistown or PCS.
Re: North Fulton Wildcat Softball
Cool Adam thanks. If NFW were to get through regionals (I think Princeville is there too), sectionals will be tough for this young team. But their pitching might or might not get them through. Interesting to get there and see.Adam Duvall wrote:I guarantee you if that was the case North Fulton would be ranked at least No. 3- ahead of both Brimfield & IB.Gus Riley wrote:That is an unfortunate fact. Re: North Fulton Wildcat Softball
Like I said above, North Fulton wouldn't face Princeville until the sectional, be it the title game at the Lewistown Sectional.
Illini Central, South Fulton, Augusta Southeastern and Springfield Calvary are in NF's regional hosted by South Fulton in Ipava.

Got it thanks. Someone mentioned Princeville was in our Regional earlier to me, I hadn't verified that. Where did you find the regional info?

Next Prairieland Conference game is Monday. Playing Rushville at Fairview (NFW home). Should be a good game. I wonder if a win will clinch this conference for the Wildcats?crazy WILDCAT fan wrote:Wildcats 20-2 Go Cats!

North Fulton is 7-0 in the Prairieland with two league games remaining (hosting R-I on Monday, Knoxville on Tuesday).
Brimfield is 7-1 in the Prairieland with one league game remaining on Wednesday vs. ATown.
Per conference rules, there are no tiebreakers (even though NF won the head-to-head), so NF controls its own destiny.
