2016-2017 Wrestling Season

Post by STL » Wed Nov 16, 2016 5:16 pm

Any thoughts on the upcoming wrestling season? I tried to get into the specific Wrestling Forum and it says that you need "Special Permission"? Anyone know what that means and how to fix it?

Beats me. I must have permission. I'd say Washington is set to repeat as conference champs.

I would think a pretty safe bet. They are a premier program in the state and Medlin is a great coach. Lots of talent returning.

Beats me. It won't let me in, either.

Does anyone know how to post a new forum? Maybe that's the way to go...

I am a 1A guy that follows Orion. I know a lot of the posters on here follow 2A and 3A.

A little about Orion. It sounds as though numbers are good with 25 guys in the room. The Chargers have four Sectional qualifiers returning.
Trent Scharpman 113 as a Fr
Mason Loete 120 as a Fr
James Schnerre 145 (placed 5th in State) as a So
Tavain Moninski 152 as a Jr

Wilson Ferry (152), Chad Banfield (182) and Logan Lee (220) will also help with depth and could be Sectional/State qualifiers this year.

I could see 3-4 guys possibly going to state.

It will be interesting to see what happens team wise this year in 1A. I can see Dakota getting a serious challenge from Coal City, L-W and possibly Byron. (I don't know much about what the southern schools have coming back) Coal City would probably be my favorite for team title but what do I know. Also Aurora Christian is starting up a program this year so I would imagine they will be young but tough. They hired Montini assistant Justin Pearch.

I'm a 2A fan, but Dakota, Coal City, and Byron are always very good. It would be really nice to see some challengers so I hope you have a good season. Isn't Mercer County near you? They were pretty good last year. Engle is pretty tough.

Yes MC is in our Regional and in fact will be the host this year. They along with Sherrard, Fulton and Morrison are always tough when it comes Regional time. Engle is very good and should contend for a state title after finishing 3rd last year at 120.

The more you sweat in practice, the less you bleed in battle.
