Washington ends up with 10-1st, 2-2nd, and 1-3rd place finishes for 8th consecutive MI title. Congrats to the team and coaches :champ

Congrats to Washington for their eighth in row - amazing accomplishment! Though certainly not in the Panther class, congrats to the Pekin boys for finishing in second place for second straight year and 16-3 season record! Nobody can touch Washington but good job John Jacobs and boys for their excellent season! :o

Great job by Morton in hosting the meet. Finishing 4th in the conference overall is a big improvement for Coach Pritchard and his Potters.

I got my tickets today for the big Washington vs Dakota match at five points theatre. Should be pretty cool. Dakota is ranked #1 in 1a and defending state champs in 1a while Washington was runnerup in 2a last year and currently ranked first in 2a this year.

The Dubtown Throwdown was great. A lot of fun. That was my first wrestling event so I didn't quite understand a few of the things going on. Washington wrestlers were warned about 5 times. I'm guessing it was for stalling. Not sure. Overall the atmosphere was great and seats were very comfortable of course.

Congrats to Washington for hosting such an event - real creativity and great way to showcase wrestling. Washington as a school and community seems to be hitting on all cylinders in their sports...

Student section was great and loud. I wish they were like that at the basketball games still. I'm not sure what has happened but the crowds at the basketball games have been way down this year. Students and adults just do not seem to care this year.

Visiting student sections seem down quite a bit also. Only game I really remember this season so far being "normal" on both sides was for the Metamora game

Was at the Throw-Down - great atmosphere, great event. Kudos to Washington for coming up with the idea and putting it together. Only disappointing thing was the Dakota kids not shaking the Washington coach's hands after matches. Every once in a while you come across a team (i.e. Coach) who doesn't require it. It's basic sportsmanship.

Actually in Iowa shaking a coaches hand after a match is considered "un-sportsman like" and will cost you a team point. I can see the argument from either side, so in my opinion, the coaches should just let each other know, pre match, whether or not their kids will be shaking hands with opposing coaches after the individual matches.

Only familiar with Illinois HS Wrestling for about the last 9 years - very common at least here in Central IL with only a few schools that don't follow the practice. I was not aware that it was banned several years ago in Iowa, to be replaced - as I now understand it - by the teams together shaking hands after the total match ends.

Actually had a case this past weekend at the Peoria Notre Dame Regional where a young man - seeded 3rd - got beat in the 3rd place match and stormed off the mat without even shaking his opponents hand. I used to see this often several years ago from a few local teams but hadn't seen it again in quite some time. Hoping the coach and the boy's parents all pointedly addressed that one later.

Anyway, thanks for clarifying.
