Bids for the Braves - October 28

Post by JMM28 » Fri Oct 06, 2017 3:33 pm

The 2017 Bids for the Braves is scheduled closer to basketball season this year which also coincides with Halloween weekend.

Event details on facebook

Other details and ticket/table purchases here:
https://bradley.ejoinme.org/MyEvents/20 ... fault.aspx

It looks like some pretty solid auction items this year. There is a trip to the San Diego game with the team on December 3rd. Brewers donated their party bus to take you down to a Cardinals game (hopefully its v. Cubs), sit in a luxury box, $1000 towards food and drink, and a tour of the AB facilities in St Louis for 14 folks total. There are a lot of the popular favorites like the BBQ with Coach Wardle, honorary coach positions for a couple games, and a lot of new experiences for kids and adults with all the sports programs.

Bremer Jewelry and Alexanders Steakhouse did a couple things last year that were new. Alexanders brought meat and Bremer brought around 6 different BU related jewelry pieces. If you bought the meat or pearls, 100% of your money went to BU Athletics and they donated the item. Bremer had a really cool BU shield pendant for the ladies that I believe was only available for that event.

It's a great time IMO. BU does a great job of keeping things moving and it's a lot of fun....

One weekend before bump. Tickets/tables still available. About 350 already coming.

A couple new trips this year - traveling with the mens basketball team to either San Diego State or Missouri State.

There is also something interesting that hasn't been done. Coach Wardle and staff are hosting a fantasy camp for all of us has beens and never was-es. The official description is:
Sign up for this basketball camp and play like a kid again! Spend the day with the Bradley Men's Basketball staff running drills, learning the offense and playing a basketball game on a Bradley court. Includes uniform, lunch and dinner. Participants must be 25 years or older, and the camp is restricted to the first 20 bidders.
So far all of you who come on here saying "I could do better than ___ in the post" or "Even I shoot better than that guy", this is a perfect chance to put up in front of the staff.

A few of the items can be viewed there. If you want to bid on a live auction item, have someone you know at the event get on the phone with you. Silent auction can be bid on from the online portal.

Wonder what the logic is having to be 25? Why not 21-24? No biggie, just curious.
Thanks J.J. for what I consider sound advice!

I have no idea what that is based on, but I am guessing it is based on avoiding NCAA rules on stuff like that. Same reason a lot of the other experiences for kids have to be under high school age.

They want you to not have the ability to be a dependent on someone else's insurance plan when you pull or break something

In addition to money raised via silent and live auction there was an additional “auction” for the athletic recovery room. The room cost is $35k.

Funds pledged tonight totaled $31,900.

The event raised a lot of money last night. Probably the best one ever.

The fund the need was for a recovery room. Joe Whitson basically said that this “room” would put BU on par with power 5 football schools in terms of sports medicine/science.

Especially since Joseph's Recovery Room closed.

Seriously, the insurance dependency cutoff at 25 was the only thing I could figure

I bought the fantasy camp. Before you start laughing though I bought it as a gift to my son in law
