Disclaimer: Aging guy opinion...

Like - Skilled, team basketball. Warriors play that. Even with the UNDISPUTED GOAT the 90’s Bulls played it too. Basketball at its highest level is enjoyable to behold.

Dislike - And 1 ballers, SJW’s ruining my entertainment and my break from reality. Bad basketball usually loses, and when it’s coupled with unwanted commentary I change the channel. Golf Channel and ‘River Monsters’ usually do the trick.

I’m looking forward to the conference finals for the first time in a long time. Great mid-major representation all around, and great team basketball being played at the highest level...hopefully without the drama.

Older guy as well and I agree. The 80's Lakers and Celtic championship games were in the same vane. Two skilled teams playing as a team.

It’s amazing how good teams are that have multiple Hall of Famers on the roster.

Mast's team Donar will play in the Dutch Basketball League Championship series, after defeating Leiden 93-63 in game 3, completing a series sweep against the regular season and domestic cup champions. They await the winner of the other series still, which is led 2 games to 1 by the second-place finishers Landstede Zwolle over New Heroes.

In the game 3 rout, Mast had 13 points, 7 rebounds, 2 steals, 2 assists, 2 blocks, but also 4 TOs in 23 minutes. He was 3-of-4 from 3.

In the 5 playoff games, he's averaging just under 20 mpg, 8 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 0.6 steals, 0.4 blocks, and 1.6 TO. He is shooting 70.59% (12-17) from 2, and 38.46% from 3 (5-13). An 83% FT shooter in the regular season, he's just 25% (1-4) in the playoffs, but obviously a small sample.

3-of-4 from 3 from the international 3 point line! :td :D Does anyone know if he can create his own shot or is it a set shot? I like the rebound number as well. The TO number is completely another matter.

I don't think it's that big a concern. He's playing center for his team, but playing a stretch-four-type game. If you look at the video from one of their playoff games posted a few posts back, there's some big guys (physical, muscular-not necessarily height) in the league (including former college players), so I think it's more getting outmuscled in some instances. In fact in that video, a guy just outbodied him and knocked a pass intended for him right out of his hands.

Did Danville guard Houpt accept the preferred walk on from Bradley? I read where his dad resigned as head basketball coach so that he can watch his son and daughter play basketball.

Rienk wins and moves on to the Championship of the pro league. They beat the favorite to move on.

I’m going to get irrationally excited about Reink Mast.

Mast suffered an apparent (minor, hopefully) knee injury in last night's game, a 62-53 win for Zwolle. He had only played 6 minutes, was 0-2 (0-1 from 3), with an assist before getting hurt, and he did not re-enter the game.

He is doubtful for the next game. It sounds like Donar is an overly cautious club and likely won't do anything to jeopardize his career, so I'd be OK if his season is over. Heal up for summer Euros.

Commence everyone panicking. . .the good news here is that no one is talking about it being a severe injury, at least not yet.

On the topic of Dutch basketball, the Dutch hoops blog hip h00p hero discusses the future for Zwolle, and suggests Luuk Van Bree may be a future player there.

I hope our Euro players take at least a one month break before the start of the college season. I'd like to see them have the chance to rest their legs and body before embarking on an entire freshman campaign.

It was announced today that Mast's season is officially over, and he will not play with the Netherlands U18s this summer due to a front cruciate ligament injury on his right knee.

Donar won game 4, however, 88-82 to even the series at 2 games each.

ACL injury. That's no good. Will have to cross our fingers that it isn't a complete tear and he will be available for us this year after a period of rest and rehab...

Umm...so what exactly does that mean? Done for a calendar year? Which 'cruciate ligament'? Kind of some big details missing here...this would be a big blow to the Braves.

Google translate (brilliant tool) says...

For Donar player Rienk Mast, the season has ended in a nasty way. Mast has damaged the front cruciate ligament of his right knee and is waiting for a rehabilitation course.
The youngster sustained the injury in the second match of the series against Zwolle. Mast is therefore no longer in action this series and has also had to cancel its games with the -18 national team.

Present
He was present in the stands at the game on Tuesday evening and will also be at the coming games of the team. On behalf of Mast, technical manager Martin de Vries told the story of his injury.

MRI scheduled and we will have to wait. Depending on the outcome it will be interesting to see if he stays in Finland or comes to BU to use their rehab resources. Wishing him all the best.
