Ok. Well, if they were told to knock it off and they did it again, I would expect them to be escorted out. Then, Bradley would be doing its due diligence to solve the problem.

I would think that would satisfy the Title IX pigs.
What are Title IX pigs?
Sorry, Title IX police. Overseers of Title IX. The people who monitor coaches shows and listens for people yelling Lady Braves into a hot mic.
Oh. I didn’t know people did that.

Oh. I didn’t know people did that.
They don't.

The point is though that - anyone - can file a Title IX complaint against an institution of higher learning.

There's no gestapo out there waiting to pounce. But, if the right (or wrong) person has an axe to grind, then it becomes an issue.

Point being: Don't be Joe Schmo. :D

I feel as though I started this brew haha a little while back by unknowingly referring to our women's basketball team as the Lady Braves; that's what we called them back when I went to Bradley. Personally, I still like the name. I may live south of the Mason-Dixon Line now but I'm far from being a racist bigot, and I think most people north or south of the line are just trying to preserve their heritage and traditions; very few are actually racist or ignorant.

That said, let's hope Bradley's Women's Basketball Team gets their ship righted and finishes their successful season like they started. Go Braves!

Sweet. Here’s what I’m gonna do.

I’m gonna show up to the ISU coaches show (if they even have one) and start screaming Go Lady Birds!!! as loud as I can. I will be recording this of course. Then, I’m gonna report ISU for a Title IX violation.

It’s gonna be epic.

Again. . .nuance:

ISU has been a leader in women's athletics.

This is where it's exactly like the mascot issue for Bradley.

ISU can skate on it because they haven't been chauvinist bigots in the face of Title IX.

History and context matters with regards to Bradley because of past negative connotations.

Try to keep up.

Nah, I really don’t want to try to keep up. All of this is ridiculous, and I’m done wasting my time on it. Thanks for trying to educate me, but I just don’t really care. Especially since it’s pretty much all hypothetical and really a non issue.

It would be a Title IX violation. I guess. Because bigots and mascots.

Hell, I don’t really know.

People are making this more than it is.

Just call the team by its actual name. That's it. Done. Issue over.

I had a couple classes with some of the WBB players at BU. I'm typically a conservative but to me they "played for the women" or "played for the women's team" just the same as the men "play for the men" or "play for the men's team". The only particularity I have is that if someone anonymously told me they "played basketball for Bradley" I would assume they were a man. "Playing for Bradley" means playing for the MBB team to me. "Playing for the women's team" means playing for the WBB team for me.

Great win for the Braves last night. Hot shooting got BU a 12 point lead but ISU cut it to 4 going into the 4'th. The lead got to within 2 late but BU did NOT fold..got key rebounds, hit key free throws late.

66-62 final over a solid Illinois State team.

Break out the broom for the second year in a row! If the men hold up their end of the deal both Bradley men's and women's basketball will have swept the Redbirds for two years in a row. When did that happen last? (cue squirrel's appearance here  )

Well since the regular season sweep had never happened before last year, if the men win in Normal, the consecutive-year sweep would also be a first.

ISU did defeat Bradley in the women's tournament last year, but the regular season sweep is still going strong!

Also, it looks like the win bumped Bradley up to 42 in the RPI, +13 spots. . .

Bradley is in the latest ESPN Bracketology, in the Ft. Wayne regional, as an 11-seed vs. 6-seed Kentucky in the Corvallis, Oregon pod, featuring 3-seed host Beavers, and 14-seed Montana State.

http://www.espn.com/womens-college-bask ... acketology

Also has Missouri St in as a 5 seed and Drake as a 9.

Second-to-last weekend at home for the Braves, hosting Valpo and Loyola, before next weekend's Iowa road swing.

Then, February 27 & March 1, the Braves host SIU and Missouri State.

They absolutely need a sweep this weekend.

That Iowa road trip will be brutal.

Tribe has outed himself as Paul Newberry of the Associated Press.

In all seriousness, though, these 2 paragraphs sum up the reality of it all, whether people realize it (or want to) or not.
As a member of Alabama's sports information staff, Hopf took it upon herself to start referring to the women's basketball team as the Crimson Tide rather than the Lady Tide, receiving plenty of hate mail from fans who felt offended that a female team would dare stake claim to the football team's storied nickname.
If the NCAA ever does grow a backbone on this issue, it might need to insert a waiver that allows schools such as Tennessee and Baylor and Louisiana Tech to demonstrate how their nicknames have actually helped to grow women's sports and are worthy of a historical pass.

You are going to get Bradley in a lot of trouble if you keep violating NCAA rules on this message board. Not to mention, the blatant disrespect for the WBB and Tribe, wake up and become woke

I know you're just being a smart #$5w= here, but the message board is not affiliated with the college. Also, there is nothing wrong with using the word "lady" or "ladies" - except when placed in front of Braves or Bravos.
