2018-19 Schedule

Post by squirrel » Fri Apr 20, 2018 9:58 am

Don't have one of these up and running yet, but a lot of information has been discussed in the past season opponents thread and most recently the MWC Challenge thread.

Here is what is known at this point:

Home
Jacksonville State (Cancun Challenge Prelim)
Chicago St (Finals layoff game again?)
Eastern Illinois
SEMO
New Mexico (December 1)
TBD Tourney filler vs. non-DI

Away
SMU (November 20)
Penn St/Wright St (November 21)
IUPUI (November 28)
Georgia Southern
Little Rock

We have not really heard anything even remotely official regarding next season's tournament, but I would guess it's reasonably safe to presume it will be one campus game plus 3 neutral, played mid-November.

A couple other scheduling notes for this year:

The season is starting earlier, with tournament/showcase games allowed as early as November 6. I can't remember if the Christmas layoff mandate passed or not, but the reason for the forward shift was to provide a total layoff for players December 22-26.

Bradley has to return the Little Rock game this season.

Mapping out the first month:

Nov. 9-11 Probable Season/home opener
Nov. 12-14 Game 2 (EIU/SEMO type or non-DI tourney filler)
Nov. 15-17 Game 3
Nov. 19-22 Probable Turkey Tourney
Nov. 24-26 Probable Game 7
Nov. 28 @ IUPUI
Nov. 30-Dec. 4 vs. New Mexico (MWC Challenge)

Tuesday, December 4 is the last day of Fall Semester classes. December 8-9 would be the only potential game days until December 12 due to Finals.

Bradley has to return the Little Rock game this season.
Fixed above. For some reason, I thought that was a one-off.

Are we sure Chicago St will even exist 5 months from now to fulfill their end of the 2-for-1?
That's enough, Reggie Miller.

That's enough, Chris Webber.

If they took a couple years off of basketball that would be fine.

Dildy was making $150k for HC/AD double duties. I don’t know how firing him is supposed to save money.

I want to know how they keep sending ghost offers to recruits.

Interesting choice for Chicago St. And for Zorich.

Aside from having to scramble to get another game, wouldn't this be a good thing???

Judging from the temperature of this board, we'd probably lose whatever replacement game was had, so no.

In all seriousness, yes, I would have never scheduled Chicago St in the first place ;)

Sounds like Zorich's legacy of personal and financial failure will continue as he likely assures the placement of the final nail in the coffin of Chi St Athletics.

100% support 2-for-1’s with Chicago State as long as the game is guaranteed for Jones Convocation Center on a Saturday. I think many fans would’ve loved the trip if they gave the JCC a chance.

Of course, CSU shot itself in the foot moving it to Dickens and many likely canceled their plans (I did).

The link is in the Twitter feed above, but yep, New Mexico is official here is the presser:
https://bradleybraves.com/news/2018/5/3 ... lenge.aspx

Jerome Robinson is currently a Lobo assistant, and Bradley assistant Drew Adams was an assistant to Steve Alford there, and alongside former Brave Duane Broussard. The Alford-Broussard duo of course notably lured Danny Granger away from Bradley.

It will be 55 seasons removed from the last time the 2 teams met, in the 1964 NIT Championship, won 86-54 by Bradley.

Braves 0-6 all-time in the challenge.

Sad!

It's all Glasser's fault. On a serious note, I really hope we can land a marquee carver opponent outside of the MWC challenge. Our schedule as currently announced really blows and wont help attendance one bit

So disappointed in the 2018-2019 noncon so far. Just look at the names outside of the New Mexico game. And Wardle says this better than last year’s weak noncon? I’ll wait till the Valley season before I buy a ticket. We’ve got to ultimately challenge ourselves in playing quality noncon opponents. Maybe 2019-2020 will be better, but next year’s noncon just doesn’t excite.

Non con schedule at home so far is sad, bad and will not draw many fans. We cannot count us getting the LOBOS because this was scheduled by others, when will we at least get good games at home against decent mid-major teams?

WCC is down to 16 games. Call up Saint Mary’s. They’re in the region for WKU on Dec 1 anyways.

Fwiw, Bradley posted this on the scheduling board:

Bradley is looking for a Top 75 RPI or best available opponent to start a H/H series in Peoria IL. We will be considered a Quadrant 1 game. Early November dates and late December available for dates.

Closest matches:

Wright State is looking to start a H/H series on the road.

FGCU is looking for multiple games. Prefer to start at home but can start on the road. Many dates available
(^My note: FGCU plays at ISU, maybe hook up with them so FGCU has a 2-for-1 roadtrip?)

Saint Mary's is looking for a home/home. Available dates 11/6 - 11/11 & 11/17 - 11/21.

University of Wyoming is looking to finalize our schedule for 2018-19. We need two games, one in Laramie on December 8th, and one on the Road, Dec 20-22. Open to any and all possibilities, including home/home (also home/home in same season), paying a guarantee for the home game, receiving a guarantee for the road game, and or starting a 2 for 1 on the road. We lose 9 of our 14 players from last season, including 4 starters.

College of Charletson needs to start a H/H series on the road Dec 15, 16 or 18.

Tulsa needs to get a couple of games on the following dates: Nov. 10 Nov. 30-Dec. 1 Dec. 4 Open to a variety of options including home and home, buy game or even a neutral series / game.

Buffalo is looking to start a series on the following dates. Nov 6, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17

Every other conceivable top 75 team (that's realistically schedulable) seeking HvH specifically requests to start at home. Michigan St posted yesterday they're looking for a guarantee game Friday 11/9.
