5 pm..... WTF

Post by dogsrus »

5 pm start for the UNI game a week from Sat.... first why.... is it TV...????

More importantly not sure what to do for eating.... are restaurants open.... i’m on a strict eating schedule and not sure if my body can adapt....

Should i start training now..... what about my dog ( see avatar )..... will have to feed her early and not sure she’ll know what’s up.....

Does Phil Collins sound the same at 5 like he does at 6.....7.......???

What if my red shirt isn’t home from cleaners.... Green with white mock turtle neck....

The struggle is real..... #firstworldproblems
So I was in the airport the other day and I saw AL B., PM me if you want more details.

5pm ESPN2 >>> 7pm espn+

Any game on CBS or ESPN/ESPN2 is a massive win for a mid-major.

Big difference between ESPN/ESPN2 and ESPNU/CBSSN in carriage and prestige.

There are more important things then TV......my blood sugars for one.

Now that Eli’s out can we ask this game to get moved.....

Yes. When national TV says you're on, you're on.
More importantly not sure what to do for eating.... are restaurants open.... i’m on a strict eating schedule and not sure if my body can adapt....
Yes. Games start 12 noon ET, generally. The B1G has the 12 & 2 time slots, the B12 4, the Valley the 6 PM (ET) window. Hence the 5 PM start. The SEC has the 8 PM window and WCC the 10 PM window.
Should i start training now..... what about my dog ( see avatar )..... will have to feed her early and not sure she’ll know what’s up.....
Yes.
Does Phil Collins sound the same at 5 like he does at 6.....7.......???
Yes. But after 9 PM, no.

I have confidence in you dogs.

Sooooo....to add to the weirdness it sounds like we may have a mini snow game on our hands...

Reminds me of my first snow game. I was a teenager in the mid 90s and my dad wanted nothing to do with the snow. Coincidentally, BU was playing Northern Iowa in a noon or early afternoon game, and there was a good foot of snow on the ground...my 2 lil bros and I piled in the all-terrain Ford Escort and slid down to Carver Arena. Only a few hundred people showed up and toward the end of the first half everyone was invited to sit by the court which was my first time sitting that low since I was 4 or so and a policeman friend of my Grandpa who was known only as Rabbit got us front row at the Fieldhouse vs SIU...But I digress...

I promptly started feeling extremely ill during halftime, forgoing my usual super nachos with salsa, peppers and extra cheese, and gave a legendarily gutty performance to stick it out to the end. Went home afterwards and had the violent stomach flu and was bed ridden for a couple days.

Ahhhhhh nostalgia 🤪

Maybe this Saturday at 5 will write a new chapter in my Tales of a Bradley Fan memoir I'll retell to my non-existent grandchildren one day...

Great story Jubby. As a student I once took the Bradley shuttle bus to a game while sick, went outside to puke :gagl at halftime, and came back in to watch the rest of the game. Ah, good times. :fro

I don't have any sick stories (at least involving a basketball game). . . :gagr

But I did take the bus to the Butler game at Hinkle during the Sweet 16 season. It was snowing (not bad-just an inch or two), and the bus driver took out a stop sign taking a corner too close a few blocks from the arena.

I remember going to Hinkle on a bus trip too but it was the late 90s...I went with my dad (I was 20) and they showed Liar Liar on the bus and many of the bluehairettes were up in arms whenever Jennifer Tilly was on screen...my dad thought it was the funniest thing he'd ever seen

My memories were that every single game I attended at the Fieldhouse in the 70's was a snow game. I went with my Dad or a friend and his Dad. We had the old rubber boots with the buckle system from hel. We parked on side streets and trudged through snow and slush along with every one else to eventually all end up in the foyer of the FH. When you entered the smell of popcorn immediately hit you and as a kid, it was like being in the subway....tons of people all just meandering to make their way into the red painted doors. Walking into the arena and seeing the players warming up on the raised floor, they were larger than life. Seymour Reed was my first Braves hero. Looking back those were such awesome times to be a Braves fan.
Thanks J.J. for what I consider sound advice!

You and I must be twins jb. I'm 56 and have the same exact memories as you. I used to love watching Tom Les dive two rows deep off the stage and into the crowd. The Fieldhouse was really rocking in the 70s, especially when Louisville, New Mex. St. and other top teams came to town. My dad was a ticket-taker so I went to every game without an official ticket and just roamed around looking for empty seat until someone showed up and made me move. In those days there weren't many empty seats so I watched many a game standing behind the baskets.

Hey squirrel, my son and I were on that bus too. We sat right behind Bob and Karen Larson. I believe that was the last year Braves Club had organized trips.

Is real fan here judging these and letting people know if these stories are worthy of fandom and opinions? 😀

Don't forget, it's also all about how much you give and where you sit at the games.

The only memory I have of the FH is when I jumped and watched others jump. I wish I could have experienced at least one game there. Oh well Carver was sold out and rocking just about every game went to for 4 years.

I was going to games at the Fieldhouse back in 68, I have so many stories to tell that it would take me a lifetime . I also was on a bus trip to Hinkle when Versace was the coach , Manascalco dismissed and all hell broke out as far as fighting in the upper section of Hinkle.

Not sure where to put this (big game thread?) but I’m watching the SMC v BYU game just now Lunardi commented on how it would have been a “mistake” for BU to have been left out of the field (Even if they had lost the championship game) last year in favor of some sub-500 P5 team. Comment came around the 17/16 minute mark for those of you with the ESPN App.
Walk on, walk on, with hope in your hearts and you'll never walk alone, you'll never walk alone! One day soon we'll be back.

Lunardi should know as well as anyone that "mistakes" happen quite often to mid major teams....
