Italy has hired Roberto Mancini as its national team coach. About 3 years too late.

 AKA The Alternative Facts NIT World Cup (TM) ;)

Speaking of the MiBs...their new book is out today. Also out already, for what appears to be promising pre-World Cup reading, Grant Wahl has a book out, Masters of Modern Soccer modeled after George Will's seminal 1990 book Men at Work, which profiles Tony Gwynn, Tony LaRussa, Orel Hershisher, and Cal Ripken, Jr. Featured players in Wahl's book include Pulisic, Vincent Kompany, Chicharito, and Manuel Neuer.

No, but I will be visiting New Busch Stadium for the first time exactly one month from today.

Hope you enjoy it. It's a great venue to watch a ballgame in.

There will be two American lead refs for the first time: Mark Geiger (who came very close to securing the 2014 World Cup Final) and Jair Marrufo.

Geiger has worked the 2011 U-20 World Cup, handling the Final-the first for an American in a major international FIFA event. He subsequently worked the 2012 Olympics, 2013 Gold Cup, 2013 Club World Cup, 2014 World Cup, and 2017 Confederations Cup.

Marrufo was an early selection for 2010 World Cup, but was removed from the list following a spate of late season poor match reviews.

I'll break down roster news at some point, but Radja Nainggolan has retired from Belgium after he was not named to their provisional squad.

Mo Salah was injured early in the Champions League Final and now he may miss the World Cup which would be significant for Egypt who may have been poised to surprise.

St. Louis-area native Josh Sargent starting out front for the US tonight. He has been the captain of the US U-17s and became the youngest player to score in the U-20 World Cup. He led the U17s to the World Cup final and he has consistently been a member of US youth U-teams ahead of his age bracket, performing every step of the way. He currently has 4 goals in 5 appearances for the U20s. He is currently with Werder Bremen professionally and has a strong chance to make the senior squad to start next season.

Sargent with a takeaway from a weak goalie kickout and powers in right through the goalie for this first US goal, becoming the fourth-youngest player to score for the USMNT, second-youngest to do so in their debut.

While the scoreline is impressive, we do have to somewhat keep in perspective how weak Bolivia is, no?

Yes, but they did beat Argentina and Chile, and drew with Brazil in World Cup qualification. Any time you beat a South American team is a good result.

I expect the impact of this game to fade into Bolivian.
That's enough, Reggie Miller.

That's enough, Chris Webber.

Did that Argentine side have Messi playing?
