Cole Hamels looked good in going 5 innings. 9 K’s. Cubs up 7-1 after 6.
One game but yes... well done sir. Kintzler looked ok to. Add Chavez to that mix and so far the VERY early ROI is good. Again it’s early... time will tell.
So I was in the airport the other day and I saw AL B., PM me if you want more details.

We have 7 games with 2 of the worse teams in baseball. We need to win both of these series. Otherwise Milwaukee will overtake us and then it is anybody’s guess. We won’t be able to slug it out with the Brewers.

For all of the good things the Báez does, that base running mistake was a bonehead play. You have a pitcher on the ropes, then you run the team out of the inning.

Overused bullpen. Poorly played Cubs. Oh, I might add that Angel Hernandez is just about the worst umpire in all of baseball. Period.

Could of been their worst game of the year. Lester walks the pitcher who wasn’t even interested in swinging, later that inning Almora decides to dive for a ball that is 10 feet to his left, 2 base runners thrown out that had no business even being involved in the play. Bullpen falling short in keeping it close, which they have done all year. No I’m not blaming them. Finally an umpire who had no idea where the strike zone was most the game. Well time to get ready for them playing KC.

While I do think the Cubs will make the playoffs, I do not think they’ll make it to the World Series let alone win it.

I don't see any NL team winning the Series-Red Sox, Astros

FWIW, I heard a stat the other day that where the Cubs have a better ERA than the Astros at this point in last season, however, the big difference was the Astros adding Verlander, which didn't occur until the end of August.

Rock Falls native Jakob Junis is the pitcher against the Cubs tonight. Junis is in his second big league season, and has been a full-time starter during the 2018 season.

Zobrist makes his KC return.

Cubs are swinging at pitches not even close to strike zone. Where is the discipline? Báez, Happ and Schwarber. All this against a pitcher with a 6-11 recorded. It is embarrassing.

The Cubs would be way worse without Javier Baez.

Junis is 15-14 for his young career and was 9-3 as a rookie last season.

The Cubs are from the worst strikeout team in baseball. And Junis is a pretty decent strikeout pitcher.

I heard that. What frustrates me is whiffing at pitches far out of the strike zone. I can’t believe that they actually through Báez a pitch down the middle.

Embarrassing for who? Baseball is a hard game to be good at. Pitchers are trying to get hitters out. Hitters are trying to get hits. Its a battle. You seem to complain when Cub hitters lose that battle and when Cub pitchers lose that battle. I cannot imagine what its like to watch a game with you. The most negative knee j**k poster for team that is one of the best in the big leagues
Thanks J.J. for what I consider sound advice!

Right-the best offensive players typically still fail about 65-75% of the time.

No one is saying don't post negative stuff...I personally don't care for it, it's no way to go through life. However, when 98 out of 100 posts are all that is...and it's complaining about the same stuff...when there is actually good stuff going on around it, it just doesn't make a lot of sense to most people. If you would actually provide constructive thoughts or advice on how you might approach or would like to see the team approach something...most would probably enjoy reading that insight and not complain or have fun with the pessimism.

San Diego was down 4 - 2 going into the ninth only to hang 6 on the Brewers and win by 4.

And now Lester can’t get it done giving up 8 earned runs in 3 2/3 innings. His ERA in the first half was a sparkling 2.58, but in the second half it has ballooned to 10.33.

Interesting scheduling quirk for the Cubs during the month of September. Except for a 3 game series in Arizona, the Cubs will not play a game outside the city of Chicago from September 10th through the final game of the season on September 30th.

True-they also have 11 straight road games in 4 different cities between July 30 and August 9 right before that stretch without an off-day, which comes after the first series back home against the Brewers. That road trip includes two separate east coast swings.

Of the Cubs' remaining 46 games, 31 are against teams with reasonable playoff hopes. The Reds, Tigers, and White Sox are the only teams completely out of the playoff picture at least as of today.

The Dodgers are 11-11 overall since adding Machado at the All Star Break (6-6 in July, 5-5 so far in August).
