Bears get one of their key free agents inked. RT Bobby Massie has signed a 4 year extension that will keep him in Chicago through 2022. Terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed.

And as ESPN's Field Yates points out:

Good news, Bears sign the kicker that stunned the crowd in Death Valley

Bad news...pronouncing his name.

Bears have re-signed TE Ben Braunecker to a two-year deal.

And although the signings can't become official until the new league year opens Wednesday, they do have a couple of signings they've reportedly made:
-RB Mike Davis. 2 years, $6 million (could go up to $7 million with incentives). Lot of talk I've seen online is him potentially being 3rd down RB to replace Cunningham/Mizell.
-CB Buster Skrine. 3 years, $16.5 million ($8.5 million guaranteed). Likely means the end of Bryce Callahan's time in Chicago.

Bears to sign Cordarrelle Patterson to a 2-year, $10 million deal. Definitely interesting to see what a guy with his speed and versatility can do in Nagy's offense.

Bears sign Ha Ha Clinton-Dix. 1 year at a little over 3 million. This is a good deal as the Packers paid Amos almost 10 million a year and Clinton-Dix is a better safety in my opinion.

Agreed. While Amos is less prone to mistakes than Clinton-Dix, Clinton-Dix is more aggressive and is more able to get picks than Amos is.

Bears sign WR Marvin Hall Jr. former Falcon. He is considered one of the fastest players in the NFL. I’m seeing a trend here 😊

Reports coming out today that Ha Ha Clinton-Dix actually took less money to sign with the Bears as he wanted to pursue a chance at a ring and do it when he's in his prime at age 26.

Following his coach. Can't blame him.

NFL made the announcement today at their annual meetings that Packers at Bears will open the season on Thursday, September 5th with the Patriots set to open the season at home the following Sunday night against an opponent to be determined. Given it's the league's 100th season as well as the Bears 100th season, it doesn't surprise me that they'd want to showcase one of the greatest rivalries in football.

The full 2019 schedule is set to be released next month.

Honestly, this is probably the best that they were going to get for him. Middle of 3rd day pick (5th or 6th round) was what Schefter said on ESPN 1000 about a month ago was about the best they would get.

This likely means they go after a RB in the 3rd or 4th round I would assume.

While Howard isn't the same caliber player as Olsen, these trades are similar in that the Bears trade away a quality player simply because he didn't fit the scheme of the day.

True. Though I think Olsen's biggest issue was that he wasn't much of a blocking TE and that was something that was needed in Martz's offense at the time.

While there's no doubt that Howard is a very good RB, one thing you need to be able to do in Nagy's offense is catch the ball out of the backfield which, while it did improve this season, Howard still had issues doing.
