Agree on the order changes. Batting Goldschmidt 2nd makes no sense. I’d go:

1. Carpenter
2. Wong
3. Goldy
4. Ozuna
5. DeJong
6. Molina
7. Fowler/ONeil
8. Bader

I would be steadily increasing ONeil’s playing time as the year goes on

Win the next two and we'll be right where I would have liked at that point.

Tried to play hero (base)ball instead of OF fundamentals.

I don't know if that's true. I just think hes not a very good outfielder. Ive looked at video of him from Miami where he was a gold glover. He was never gold glove worthy, but even 2 years ago he was leaner, a little more flexible and fluid and he had a decent throwing arm. Now he cant even make a throw to a cutoff without it bouncing, he has very little range, he doesn't drift after routine balls like natural MLB outfielders do, instead he takes choppy little steps..Hes just clunky. Ive seen reports that suggest hes quite a bit older than he claims to be and his decline is because of age..( that gets said about many Dominican/Hispanic players) I hope he has a huge year, because I cant stand him right now.

I don't mind this extension. And as a side note, the cardinals have looked phenomenal against the Dodgers this series

I don’t really get the timing of the extension. It’s not like he is in his final year and it’s also not like he is a young player. I would be surprised if he is still productive in the last year of this contract

I don’t understand the Goldy and Carpenter deals when you look at them vs the Machado and Harper deals. The Machado deal was the best one of this offseason.

I don't really get too caught up in the money part of the game. I do put a little faith in management when it comes to the numbers. Who they give that money too is sometimes suspect though. Im not sure Ive mentioned this, but Marcel Ozuna is not a baseball player. He had another horrendous route to a homerun ball last night and a terrible baserunning blunder. It does look like his left shoulder is allowing to swing free and drive the ball way better, but man hes a bum everywhere else. Maybe if I keep saying how much I cant stand him he will keep hitting lasers making the rest of it easier to swallow.

Right where we should be after six road games and seven home games!

Now let's get three of the next five.

Good to see them playing better baseball. Hope it continues.

Agreed. A four game sweep over a very good Dodger team is impressive.

After the first series in MIL the offense bas been striking out a lot less and putting them all in the play. The base running overall is vastly improved as well.

Yep. Shaky start to the season. Starting pitching (save wacha) has been solid, bullpen has been lights out, defense for the most part good, baserunning for the most part good, less micromanaging... so all improvements.

It's interesting to see and hear the narrative on Marcell Ozuna.

In the early season he's actually been a better offensive player than Paul Goldschmidt. Defensively, they both rate the same thus far as well. Yes, the Ozuna optics in LF look awful for sure.

Ozuna isn't perfect but I think he takes way too much heat from "Cardinal Nation." After Wong and DeJong he has been the best non pitcher on the roster over the first three weeks of the season.

I don’t get the Ozuna hate either. Everyone loved Matt Holliday and he was a pathetic left fielder.

As I said, I hope Ozuna has a huge year because I cant stand him as a player and that would help my disdain for him. I also couldn't stand Matt Holliday. I have always been a fan of Wong where many Cardinal fans haven't. Im not part of Cardinal nation, Im just me and I have always had certain guys that were my kind of player and certain ones that weren't. Im not sold on Baders ability to handle MLB pitching on a regular basis, I think JMart is a defensive hack, I am certain Goldschmidt ( Goldsmith as Mike Shannon calls him) will have a solid season. I hate Carp at 3b, I think DeJong is solid, I think ONeill is ok in spot starts.

I have a creative idea...stop pitching to Yelich with people on base

Until the Cardinals can start getting left handed hitters out they are going to continue to get owned by the Brewers and will struggle against any team with a lefty heavy lineup.

Cardinals DFA Shreve and add Wieters to the 40 man roster. Looks like it will be down to Tyler Webb and John Brebbia for the final bullpen spot. If Brebbia gets the final spot, then Andrew Miller would be the only lefty in the bullpen.
What??? is this true?? How can the Cardinals start the season with one left handed bullpen option

Shreve is in AAA but he would have to be added to the 40 man again.

Not sure why you pitch to Yelich there.
Because you don't intentionally put the winning run on second base with no outs. At some point you have to get guys out.
And at some point you might wanna start respecting Yelich. :?
