2017-18 Bundesliga thread

Post by squirrel » Sat Aug 05, 2017 2:05 pm

Christian Pulisic opens the scoring for the German domestic competitive season to give Dortmund an early 1-nil lead in the German Super Cup against Bayern Munich, with Robert Lewandowski scoring moments later to equalize. It's 1:1 in the closing minutes of the first half.

Brooks will miss up to 3 months for Wolfsburg with a tendon issue.

Pulisic scored the opening goal for Dortmund against Wolfsburg, a laser right through central defense. Would have been interesting to see if Brooks would have altered that outcome.

Nevertheless, Pulisic has scored in all 3 competitive matches, and in 3 different competitions (Super Cup, cup and league) already on the season.

Pulisic scored the winner for Dortmund in their 2:1 win over Hoffenheim. The goal, which came in the 89th minute is the latest-ever winning goal by an American in the Bundesliga. At 19, he is the 6th American to reach 8 career Bundesliga goals. Though he got off to a fast start this season, this is just his 3rd goal across all competitions.

Nevertheless. 19. :D

Bayern once again ran away with the German domestic league title, winning by 21 points:

Champions League Group Stage (1st-4th in order of finish): Bayern Munich, Schalke 04, 1899 Hoffenheim, Borussia Dortmund
Europa League Group Stage: Bayer Leverkusen
Europa League Second Qualifying Round: RB Leipzig

Relegated: Hamburger SV, FC Koln

16th place Wolfsburg has to contest a promotion/relegation playoff with the 3rd place finisher from the 2. Bundesliga, Holstein Kiel.

Promoting in to next year's league are Fortuna Dusseldorf (2. Bundesliga champions) and FC Nurnberg.

Pulisic had 5 goals and 42 appearances across all competitions this season, bringing his Dortmund career total to 12 goals in 97 appearances.
