Future City/England GK Angus Gunn, who is out on loan at Norwich City, set a club record 5 consecutive league clean sheets for the Canaries. He had a rough go in the early stages of the league shipping 4 goals twice and 3 goals once.

Watford win over Arsenal puts them in the top 4, ahead of both Chelsea, Arsenal, Burnley and Liverpool.

Everton draw 1:1 at Brighton & Hove Albion in a match that the Toffees likely should have lost if not for a late PK score by Wayne Rooney. Seat starting to get a bit warmer for Ronald Koeman with lack of positive results thus far this season. Everton hosts Arsenal next Sunday.

Everton have issued a lifetime ban to a fan who punched a Lyon player yesterday in Europa League play. UEFA has opened its own internal investigation. The fan was also carrying a child when the incident occurred.

Aguero first half PK against Burnley ties him with Eric Brook (1927-1940) as Manchester City's all-time leading goal scorer. One more goal makes him the sole record holder.

Huddersfield defend their home turf and beat Manchester United 2:1, which hands United their first league loss of the season and leaves Man City as the last remaining league team without a loss.

This is perhaps a bit surprising, but Manchester City has become the first Premier League club to reach 1M subscribers for their official YouTube channel.

Koeman out at Everton. Talk of Rooney as player-manager.

But also, this, which I am sure both Salz and Bluejay will enjoy:

Mid-week EFL Cup action this week for the R16:

Bournemouth vs. (2) Middlesbrough
(2) Bristol City vs. Crystal Palace
Leicester City vs. (2) Leeds United
Manchester City vs. (2) Wolverhampton

Struggling Arsenal will face emerging GK Angus Gunn, fading PL side Leicester faces PL hopeful Leeds, and Man City and Wolves square off in a meeting of PL and Championship leaders.

As far as possible replacements, former Man United player and interim manager Ryan Giggs has expressed interest in the Everton job. He's also expressed interest in the Leicester job as well.

R16 results for the EFL Cup:

Arsenal gets an 87' equalizer and staves off elimination in extra time, while City pushed to penalties by Wolves, and Crystal Palace bounced by Bristol CIty.

Swansea 0:2 Man Utd
Bristol City 4:1 Crystal Palace
Bournemouth 3:1 Middlesbrough
Leicester City 3:1 Leeds Utd
Arsenal 2:1 (a.e.t.) Norwich City
Man City 0:0 (4:1 PK) Wolves
Chelsea 2:1 Everton
Tottenham 2:3 West Ham

Quarterfinal draw later this AM, with just Bristol City remaining from outside the Premier League.

There was some controversy as teams begin to explore the definition of fourth substitute, with both Arsenal and City utilizing multiple substitutes in extra time, rather than the standard 3 in the first 90', but it appears that within the wording of the rule, neither will be penalized.

Bristol City's win over Palace is their 3rd straight over a PL team in the competition (Watford, Stoke, Palace), which is the same number of PL wins Chelsea holds at this point.

EFL Cup Quarterfinal Draw
Chelsea vs. Bournemouth
Arsenal vs. West Ham United
Leicester City vs. Manchester City
(2) Bristol City vs. Manchester United

The draw release was delayed due to technical difficulties, that resulted in a recorded tape being released instead of broadcast live.

First look at the Championship, at roughly the third way mark. Sheffield United took over first this weekend, which can probably be attributed to the Wolves playing for the League Cup this week, and losing to QPR in league, while Sheffield United defeated Leeds United. Reading, who played in the promotion playoff final last year is a mere 2 points above the relegation spots, but it appears a bulk of their squad is also playing in the U23 Premier Development League, where they sit third and level on points with second place Blackburn:

Championship Table
Sheffield United 30
Wolverhampton 29
-------------------------------Automatic promotion
Cardiff City 28
Bristol City 24
Leeds United 23
Aston Villa 22 +6
-------------------------------Promotion playoffs
Derby County 22 +5
Norwich City 22 -2

Relegation Zone
Reading 12 -5
Birmingham City 11 -13
----------------------------------
Burton Albion 10 -20
Sunderland 9 -10
Bolton 7 -17

Everton better make a move for some speed and someone to score goals or they may seriously be relegated. They need to find a manager that has relegation battle experience (paging Big Sam).

Sergio Aguero was hospitalized after fainting at halftime of Argentina's friendly today against Nigeria, which Nigeria won 4:2.

Aguero had scored a goal in the first half.
