First that I’ve been optimistic in awhile. Darvish has seemed to have resolved his control issues. Hamels is back. Kimbrel is our closer. If middle relief can get it done, it is looking good.
Agree. Here is a couple stats that I hope continue.

Since the beginning of July, Darvish has 44 strikeouts and just two walks over six outings. In his first 16 starts, he walked 49 and seemed hesitant to pitch to contact at times.

Cubs starters have gone six straight games without issuing a walk, which the team says is its longest such streak since at least 1905.

Todays game shows they can get runs outside of dingers! Starting pitching has been excellent 👌!

With Willson out 4 weeks, will Cubs try get Lucroy, or will someone block the move?

That bb stat is crazy. I have said since opening day that the Cubs are the best team in the division. Its a long season with ebbs and flows and the Cubs are way more equipped and talented to ride it out. With the Cardinals 4 game series at LA and the Cubs starting to gel, I feel like right now is where the Cubs start to pull away and not look back
Thanks J.J. for what I consider sound advice!

That’s why I was so down on him early in the season. Besides the walks he grooved too many pitches just to get it over. As stated, hopefully he has fixed it.

Darvish has always struggled in the colder weather, and coming off basically an entire year injury, while the concern was justified, the panic was not, really.

I have been with you on Darvish the entire time and hope it continues. Another great start tonight by Hendricks to join how the rotation has been pitching. Just the one mistake. As I type this the Cubs score 2 and still batting. Loving the new faces on the team.

The Cardinals series in L.A. is 3 games, not 4. They played a 4 game series in St. Louis back in early April. The Cardinals swept the Dodgers in that particular series.

The good news is, come playoffs, you can use starters in the 'pen.

Nothing like squeezing the last out and my heart nearly skipping a few beats. Only 5 more feet for that ball to carry and its probably a Cubs loss.

It was kind of funny watching the replay of that last at-bat and focusing on the fans behind the plate. I think every single one of them thought it was a homerun, lol!

I did! I woke my wife up cussing when he hit it. The Baez home run that went out, where he was off balance seemed like it was going to be a routine fly out, so I was sure the last out was gone. I know it is hard to do right now but Joe needs to get Cishek some rest.

Wow! The night we needed Lester to work a few innings, he gives us nothing. Reminds me Of a game couple years ago when Cincy lit him up for 11 runs. Someone in the pen will get a lot of work.

Lester's not anywhere close to what Lackey was, but his mental composure isn't what it used to be.

I don’t think I need to worry about Darvish anymore, but now I worry about Lester. In his last two outings he’s been rocked giving up 14 earned runs in just 9 innings.

Cubs go 5-1 on their 6 game homestand against Brewers and A's. That's pretty good. Now, they just need to turn around who they are on the road for this 4 games in Cinci.

It was a great homestand! Is it too much to have a 6-4 road trip? As I type this a 2 out hit and the Dodgers win 2-1.

Cards lose their 5th straight, and the Cubs now have a 3.5 game lead on both STL and MIL, however, the Brewers have a 2-spot up in the first against the Pirates.

To be fair, the Cardinals just finished a really tough 2 week stretch in their schedule. Over the next 10 days, they'll host the Pirates for 3, play at KC for 2 and at the Reds for 4.

The Cubs start their road trip at Cincy and the Reds have been playing decent baseball, especially at home. Looking I believe they are 7-3 in their last 10 at home. The Pirates and KC are BAD!

Still 6 outs to go but a great job by Chatwood coming on in relief and the biggest out in the game was probably the Hamels strikeout on Votto. The news guys are really helping the offense and I include Happ in that group.
