With their first pick (62th overall and final pick of the 2nd round) St. Louis selects center Niki Alexandrov from Germany.

Berube losing the interim tag as the team has signed their head coach to a 3-year deal.

I like the deal though I do wonder if this means the end of Edmondson.

They gave Edmundson his qualifying offer so it'll be interesting. Would be great for depth because it doesn't seem that Schmaltz is an NHL level player at this point but they can't afford to go too high to keep him.

Agreed on Edmundson. Though I think I read somewhere that with Gunnarsson re-signing, the Blues now have all top of their 7 defensemen back for next season.

Sammy Blais re-signs on a one-year deal with the Blues.

Aside from that, most of their moves have been to replenish depth at the AHL level.

Though it is looking more and more like Pat Maroon will be the odd man out in St. Louis.

Zach Sanford and the Blues avoided arbitration as the forward signed a two-year deal with the team.

Binnington signs for 2 years and $8.8 million. You can bet he gets a long term extension if he backs up his play this year

I like this deal for the Blues. If Binnington ends up being a fluke (which I'm sure many Blues fans hope he won't be), it doesn't hurt them that much against the cap long term.

And the deal runs out when Allen’s deal does meaning the bump in pay won’t be as big of a deal if he earns a big contract

Sundqvist returning to the Blues on a 4-year deal with an AAV of $2.75 million.

The only RFAs of note they have left are Edmondson and Barbashev and with how little they have left under the cap (around $4 million or so) it's possible that Edmondson likely moves on.

That means that they'll also have basically almost everyone of the major contributors back from last year's Cup winning team aside from Edmondson and Pat Maroon.

Blues made a trade earlier this week sending Jordan Schmaltz to the Maple Leafs for minor league defenseman Andreas Borgman.

Maroon signs for $900,000 in Tampa. I guess the shocking part for me is that means the Blues likely didn’t offer him anything. I didn’t want him back if it would cost 3 mill but for $900K it seems like a mistake to let him walk

There is only so much cap space that Armstrong has to use and with Barbashev still unsigned and likely to take up a good chunk of what they have left, I understand why they let him walk. Plus they have younger players that are gonna need to get more playing time going forward.

Shame to see him but at least he got to come home and help his hometown team win the Cup.

Blues and Ivan Barbashev agree to a two-year deal with an AAV of $1.475 million.

So aside from Maroon, they'll have basically everyone back from last year's Stanley Cup champion team.

Kostin is showing out in the pre-season. He might wind up being the replacement for Maroon. This team is loaded at forward

Blues have traded Joel Edmundson, prospect Dominik Bokk (who was their first round pick in 2018), and a 2021 7th round pick to the Carolina Hurricanes for defenseman Justin Faulk and a 2020 5th round pick.

After the trade was made official, the Blues signed Faulk to a 7-year extension with an AAV of $6.5 million. Faulk is entering the final year of his current deal so the new deal begins in the 2020-21 season.

I am hearing rumblings that this deal was done because they are going to let Petro walk next year. Thoughts?

It would be a shame if it happens but they likely won't be able to re-sign him and Schenn as they're both the big UFAs they'll have heading into next offseason.

Sounds like one of the two is still possible but not both.

The Blues really have done pretty well compared to a lot of recent Cup winners, when it comes to retaining their roster.

I can't wait to see how this team plays this year.

Getting my flag up tonight for the season opener tomorrow!
