From celebrating with Lebron last night to not walking the earth today. Very sad!

My son actually yelled into me to let me know the internet was exploding with this report.

Kobe Bryant was only 41. He had 4 daughters, the youngest of which was just born in June.

There might be more details coming that some/one of those daughters also perished.

I haven't heard anything confirmed on that, but there's some thought that all 4 of the daughters may have been on board with him.

Yes it was. Sadly I would think some of his daughters were with him.

12:35 PM PT -- Kobe's daughter Gianna Maria Onore -- aka GiGi -- was also on board the helicopter and died in the crash ... reps for Kobe tell TMZ Sports. She was 13.

At the start of today's Raptors-Spurs game, each team held the ball for a 24-second shot clock violation.

I've heard a couple talking heads on TV bring this up right after the news broke so...should the NBA have considered postponing games scheduled for today in the wake of this news?

Think about who Kobe was and what he represented. Cancelling the games would have been disrespectful to his memory.

Boston and New Orleans just did the same thing at the start of their game tonight.

3 more names in the crash have been reportedly confirmed. A longtime baseball coach at a local community college (Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, CA) and his wife and daughter were also on board according to relatives.

Memphis and Phoenix mixed it up a little. Memphis took a 24 second violation and Phoenix took an 8 second back court violation. Devin Booker was in tears on the court.

Mark Cuban also released a statement that the Mavericks are immediately retiring the number 24 and no Maverick will ever wear the number again.

@ 2012 purchase, combined hours of operations ~ 3,9xx hours which is verrrrrry low for an aircraft at that age. If properly maintained and kept well-inspected, the age really isn't any factor.

All I know is that Island Express Holding Corp's maintenance records for that aircraft had better be impeccable. This story is faaaaaar from over.

I'm thinking it might have more to do with the dense fog, and some of the aircraft grounding measures that were in place, while the Pilot received an exception to operate during that time.

The crash was more likely caused by bad weather than engine or mechanical issues, he said.

“The likelihood of a catastrophic twin engine failure on that aircraft, it just doesn’t happen,” Deetz said.

My guess is the pilot will be blamed and sued, along with the helicopter manufacturer.
