Washington has been on quite the roll since 2 losses at Pekin Insurance Holiday Tournament claiming their first regional trophy since 2012.

Two observations about the hot streak.

The Panthers two losses prior to the Potterdome were against 4A teams. They won't have to worry about playing 4A teams the rest of the season.

The Panthers have lost just once since the full compliment of players gained eligibility after completing the required transfer ineligibility period.

To my knowledge, only one player gained eligibility at semester time. Ware has been available for the the entire season

44-33 final. Sterling has to be tired of seeing Washington in the playoffs of any sport. Washington has knocked them out in football and basketball quite a few times the last 10-15 years.

going back to 2008, it's 2 basketball games and 2 football games. :-)

but we still have the 1977 girls state basketball title game to ease the pain. lol

the way I see it, if we're playing Washington in the postseason, it must mean that we're having a good season ourselves. and what better way to measure yourselves than against one of the top programs in the state, like Washington typically has in football and basketball.

good luck to the panthers on Friday.

I give Coach Brown credit to be able to mesh these guys into a unit. That took a lot considering some of the starters were one on one guys. But locally we cannot complain about private schools recruiting policies when 5 of your top 6 players did not grow up in the towns public school system. With three Mid Illini schools getting players from PPS and other districts , IMO we are fast becoming part of 150. It was a hot topic when Limestone started the trend, but no one seems to care anymore. So like it or not it is what it is. However I must add that Morton basketball has been influenced from past and present school board members for the past several years. Politics reign surpreme, so coaches don't survive the pressure or just go elsewhere.

Looks like Sterling will have some guys back next year. Might be enough to challenge. Sterling had huge size advantage alot of times last night under basket and it seemed like no one could make a entry pass. Sterling had bad night of shooting as well.

I am wondering who the 3 schools are?

Transfers are not limited to basketball nor are they limited to the Mid-Illini. I cannot think of watching the state tournament recently and not hearing about multiple kids playing who transferred from another school. With all the cost of youth sports (camps, travel ball, etc.) it seems that high schools have really become nothing more than traveling teams where the parents shop their kids' wares.
I favor capital punishment. But there are alot of cases where I don't think capital punishment applies (parking violations) and cases where it should be applied (murder, child molestation, illegal HS football recruiting).- BirdWatcher

And Coach Brown has a reputation of being able to coach kids up and the toc is a great tourney to showcase them.

How many basketball players have played D1 under Brown? Roth and Peters. Others?

Do D2, D3 and NAIA coaches attend TOC?

There is a lot of research, initiation of contact and work done by the athlete (and others like parents, coaches, etc) when it comes to D2, D3 and NAIA student athletes.

Brown has had 4 Division 1 players I think. Simms-Edwards to Bradley and I guess you can consider Lou D-1 also

Thanks. Completely forgot about Simms-Edwards.

Griffith has not played a D1 game so I think that's a stretch at this point. Any idea where he's heading?
