Gonna be tough for Washington i think. They will be able to stay tough with Bloomington for a while, but Bloomington has to much for them. Is Bloomingtons guard 10#? playing in college?

I agree, not expecting a trophy tonight. Would be happy if they did win but......

I think the teams are pretty much even. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Washington win

I think Bloomington is a far more talented team than Washington. However, I think Washington has a better coach.

I feel like Washington is going to have issues getting into sets with pressure and will have trouble scoring around the rim with a shot blocker like Payton down there. Washington is also going to have it's hands full defensively with Bloomington's fire power. Washington manhandled Sterling defensively because Sterling didn't have any shooters or aggressive offensive players. Now Washington has to respect Sandage and Farris out there, plus a couple other guys who aren't afraid to let it fly.

Washington can certainly hang around and if they won, I wouldn't be shocked, but I'd have to think Bloomington is the favorite and a lot has to go right for Washington to take this one down.

Washington needs to slow it down and keep this game in the 50s or below. If it gets into the 60s, Bloomington wins comfortably.

this is not an accurate statement. sterling has/had shooters and aggressive offensive players, but Washington did a great job of neutralizing them on Tuesday night with great defense.

Agree with all that you have said. Another aspect is how the game is called. Washington is comfortable playing more hard nosed, while Bloomington is not. If the officials let the players play, Washington could pull the upset. I also think the Panthers bench is deeper, keeping guys fresh. I hope that Panthers watched film. Purple Raiders used a trick play, after a under 7 foul. He called his team over to the huddle, then when ref came over, he mixed the starters in the huddle with bench players and stood around causing confusion. When they inbounded they had a man open for a quick three. Swish!!!!!

Here are the 3A Sectional matchups around the state (some records may not be accurate as it's not easy finding some of the school's records):

Antioch Sectional
North Chicago (19-8) vs. Antioch (10-17)
Chicago Foreman (10-17) vs. Arlington Heights St. Viator (13-16)
North Chicago wins this one
I was wrong on this one as, Arlington Heights won it over North Chicago.

Oak Park Fenwick Sectional
Oak Park Fenwick (26-4) vs. Chicago Westinghouse (12-14)
Chicago North Lawndale (22-7) vs. Chicago Farragut (14-9)
Fenwick should have made it last year, but was upset in the sectional. I they win this one.
Correct on this one, as Fenwick won this one over North Lawndale.

Genoa-Kingston Sectional
Belvidere (17-13) vs. Sycamore (13-15)
Glen Ellyn Glenbard South (14-14) vs. Marengo (23-7)
Morengo wins this one handily.
Correct on this one, as Morengo won this one over Sycamore.

Bradley University Sectional
Sterling (23-8) vs. Washington (23-6)
Bloomington (23-4) vs. Rock Falls (22-8)
Bloomington should win this one, but Rock Falls might give them trouble. Washington doesn't shoot the ball real well from the perimeter, and the big boy inside for Bloomington will block & alter shots in the paint all night. Bloomington is pretty versatile, and they run a pretty active zone that could really give Washington fits. Whitelow will have to do it all in this one for the Panthers to have a chance. I would like to say that the local team takes this one, but after watching Bloomington absolutely take Morton apart, I have to say that the Purple Raiders win this one.
Correct on this one, as Bloomington won this one over Washington.

Chicago St. Rita Sectional
Chicago Morgan Park (21-6) vs. Chicago Brooks (16-11)
Chicago Bogan (19-7) vs. Chicago St. Rita (18-10)
Look for Morgan Park to make it back to Carver Arena
Correct on this one, as Morgan Park won this one over St. Rita.

Plano Sectional
Plano (23-6) vs. Olympia Fields Rich Central (11-17)
Country Club Hills Hillcrest (20-7) vs. Morris (13-16)
I'm taking Hill Crest in a mild upset in this one.
Correct on this one, as Hillcrest won this one over Rich Central.

Benton Sectional
Benton (29-2) vs. Cahokia (20-10)
Breese Central (25-4) vs. Centralia (20-9)
I really like the Centralia coach. He is terrific, and I'm taking the Orphans of Centralia to make a return trip to Carver Arena.
Correct on this one, as Centralia won this one over Benton.

Effingham Sectional
Springfield Lanphier (25-3) vs. Champaign Central (19-9)
Mt. Zion (21-9) vs. Decatur Eisenhower (23-7)
Lanphier should win this one, but they are not playing real well right now. I'm taking Champaign Central in this sectional.

Wrong on this one, as Lanphier won this one over Mt. Zion.

Good luck to all the teams this upcoming week.

Well, ya can't win them all, but I didn't fare to bad. My predictions were made when there were 32 teams left in 8 Sectionals. Results:

I picked 6 of the 8 winners and of my 2 that I missed on, North Chicago only lost by 2 points in Overtime, or I would have had 7 of the 8 correct. Now, if I could only pick the lotto with that type of accuracy. I see where I ticked off the Washington faithful, but I was accurate on the Bloomington pick. Sorry Panther fans, but I would have picked Washington, but I felt that the chemistry thing might come back to haunt them in this one, and the Purple Raiders had no transfers. Ironically the final shot of the game was taken by a transfer :cycani
8 teams left, and I will be making my Super-sectional selections by Monday.

You didn't tick off the Panther faithful...just one troll knucklehead. Bloomington was solid all year and I expected them to win. Great season for Panthers with only one senior. Coach Brown will try to beat you with whomever walks in the door. :salute

Yes the final shot was made by a transfer but the last shot was suppose to be someone else who isn't a transfer but had to pass it off.

By the way, I'm tired of hearing this transfer crap. They are Panthers and nothing else. Let these kids enjoy high school and not have to read this stupid stuff some of you are posting. You act like you have never heard of anything like this happening before.

The transfer talk will continue as long as people continue to move to Washington and play basketball. The more it gets refuted, the more others will post about it.

Brown himself was quoted in post-game interview saying Whitelow was brought to him to make him better. I wouldn't have even thought anything about this if Brown didn't say it but what was Whitelow's first year at a Washington school?

No big deal other than Brown brought it up.

Successful programs will always draw criticism from those who can't handle it. It goes with the territory but isn't it time to quit being sophmoric and move on to something positive.

So what's sophomoric about asking when Whitelow came to Washington when Brown said Whitelow was brought to him?

Legit question especially since Brown specifically said a kid was brought to him so Brown could make him better.

The family bought a home in Washington prior to high school. What is so hard to get about that? The town has went from 10,000 to 15,000 + in a very short time. Of course there are athlete transfers, but many, many more, are not. Personally I think this is more of an anti Washington sentiment than anything. Where was the angst last year when Metamora was filled with transfers? Dunlap has very few "homegrowns" with their growth but few care because they've not been competitive. Didn't Morton have Sara Livingston...was she homegrown? Didn't Morton have the Youngman kid enroll for awhile until the fit wasn't right. Schools have little choice but to accept these transfers

Nothing hard to get. I was curious since Coach Brown himself said "he was brought to me" to make him good.

If Washington supporters can't see why there are questions then you just have a deaf ear to why there are those commenting about the trend.
