So UTA fires their coach. It had to be a personality dispute or illegal goings on because people say they thought they could do better. They are on crack if they think that.
He was 82-33 last 3 years at Texas-Arlington with wins at Ohio State, Texas, St.Mary’s, BYU twice.

If I'm Drake, I can't get Cross on the phone and in Des Moines fast enough. Wow, this one just wow...

I would not be surprised if there is a gentleman's agreement for one of his sons to take over the HPU HC job upon Tubby's retirement. I'd be surprised if the son that was just fired is not an assistant coach.squirrel wrote: ↑Mon Mar 26, 2018 5:39 pmA late AP report from within the hour states that High Point will hire Tubby Smith to be its next basketball coach

It appears that Mark Prosser is the choice at WCU, and UMES has not renewed Bobby Collins.

I either look at Cross or take a really strong look at Creighton Associate HC Darian DeVries. The guy has been an assistant way too long to not get a shot somewhere and he played at UNI, so he knows the league.

Duke assistant Jeff Capel to Pitt. Capel has previously been a head coach at VCU and Oklahoma.
Looking like Chris Mack is definitely leaving Xavier for Louisville.
Mark Prosser is the choice at WCU.

I'm not entirely sure about fit between Cross and Drake, but guys like that don't often become available. If you don't at least kick the tires on a guy like that, the school admin should be fired.SaintLouBrave22 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 27, 2018 10:55 amI either look at Cross or take a really strong look at Creighton Associate HC Darian DeVries. Mack got a 7 year deal worth about $4 million/year to go from Xavier to Louisville.

They may have to go cheaper on the hookers to make ends meet.

Tavaras Hardy is the pick at Loyola (MD). A Joliet native, Hardy played for Northwestern and has spent time on the staffs of Northwestern, Georgetown, and had currently been at Georgia Tech for Pastner's two years there.

Getting as far away from Pastner as possible is a good thing. What a trainwreck.

Tavares Hardy was the whole reason Bill Carmody went from dead man walking to 4 straight NIT’s at Northwestern. Guy is good.

Nicholls State has hired assistant coach Austin Claunch as their new head coach:
The previous coach Richie Riley accepted the head coaching position at South Alabama.

Good call SLB! I think this is a fantastic stepping stone on his climb up the coaching ladder.

Re: 2017-18 DI Hoops Coaching Carousel
I've never been as high on him as some others, but to be just 42 and have 20 years on the bench around a successful program under your belt, and he does know the Valley.
I think personally it's a bit of a gamble for both the coach and the school, but I guess when you're Drake that's a chance you can afford to take.
And there are a lot of guys who are not successful their first go around but still end up being successful (See: Porter Moser).

Well what the hell do you know anyways

BTW, ISU was not Porter's first go around, no matter how many people want to forget that he actually was a head guy at Little Rock for 3 years....

I was grouping LR and ISU together as a "go-round" because they were consecutive and then he wasn't a head coach for a time.

Isn't Bakersfield making the move to the Big West next year? They were down last year but have been pretty good the last few years.squirrel wrote: ↑Thu Mar 29, 2018 2:28 pmDan Monson gets a 5-year extension. So your Big West coaching lineup at present. Pretty solid lineup:
