College Football Week 5

Post by Bluejaygrad03 » Sat Sep 29, 2018 10:10 am

Lots of interesting games to watch this week including West Virginia-Texas Tech, Ohio State-Penn State, Stanford-Notre Dame, BYU-Washington, and Oregon-Cal.

With the Illini on a bye there's a focus more on the in-state schools today with EIU looking for their first win of the season at Tennessee Tech, ISU at Missouri State, WIU hosting Youngstown State, SIU hosting South Dakota, and NIU at Eastern Michigan.

Trevor Lawrence gets injured and Clemson survives. Kelly Bryant looks dumb now on top of a quitter

Rough start for Frost. Going to 0-4 and likely going to start 0-6.

That’s rough for the Cornshucker faithful.

I'm no President Trump fan but thank you sir for your comments in regard to the NFL and those protesting our nations anthem. You were spot on!!!

Former Illini and current Tennessee State LB Christion Abercrombie suffered a serious head injury today. He was unresponsive and had emergency surgery. Prayers to Abercrombie.

The offensive line has been awful. The receivers have been awful. And toward the end Haskins just looked like he had zero confidence in either one to do their job. That screen pass was about 20 plays overdue with the over pursuit of Penn State.

In all honesty to be down 6 after that half is a miracle. That was the worst half of football I have seen since they played Clemson 2 years ago

Ohio State scores here and they’re in ok shape.

PSU had 293 yards in first half and 1/2 those came on 2 plays. Stop the big plays and they should stop PSU offense.

That’s the worst call I’ve ever seen. Where is the targeting? Not to mention the replay showed the ball hit the ground. This is a complete joke

Football is dumb. You can’t sack the quarterback in the nfl and you can’t tackle people in college. This isn’t fun to watch anymore

So Meyer doesn’t call timeout and gets a delay of game on the 2 point try and then calls it after the penalty. What an idiot

Lucky for them Akron was thunderstorm’ed out and they scheduled Bethune-Cookman as a replacement or they’d go 0-12.

And to think before the season their fans were predicting 9-3 and vocal about how overrated other B1G teams were.

Awesome job by James Franklin of taking the ball out of his star's hands on the final play. It worked out just as well for him as it did last year when Lincoln Riley took the ball out of Baker Mayfield's hands in two crucial plays in the Rose Bowl.

Among my biggest pet peeves in football is coaches who try to show how smart they are by fooling everybody on crucial plays instead of just allowing their stars to try to make plays. I am all for that stuff earlier in the game but at crunch time let the kids who got you there step up and make a play. If they passed of McSorely scrambled and they failed then so be it. But to not even give the kid a chance to make a play was just dumb.
I favor capital punishment. But there are alot of cases where I don't think capital punishment applies (parking violations) and cases where it should be applied (murder, child molestation, illegal HS football recruiting).- BirdWatcher

I agree. I watched the end of the OSU game but spent most of the night watching 5-0 Kentucky beat South Carolina. (Much as I hate UK basketball I kind of root for the FB team, down as they were for so many years.) They ride Bennie Snell, Jr., like a rented mule. They just feed him the ball and Stoops doesn't overthink it. Just gives Bennie the ball.

You’ve got a big time receiver coming in next year from Lake Travis, TX. I’ll see him in person later this season.

I can’t wait for Wilson to be here. I’d love to have Haskins throwing him the ball for a year but I don’t think it’s gonna happen
