Will be curious how season unfolds. Looks like cross teams will pick up runners who might normally have done soccer or even football. Not sure how these runners might perform in a shortened season, but could really help some schools. Those same runners will then go from spring soccer directly to summer track.

Season got under way Saturday at Dunlap! Pekin girls and boys swept Dunlap but lost to Morton. All the meet scores were close...kids just seem happy to be running!

Specific details. Not sure why the IESA and IHSA couldn't have planned and done something very similar. Good opportunity for the kids and seemingly a safe set up as well.

Illinois coaches group planning virtual 5K ‘state’ championship for high school cross country.

"Each high school coach can organize a 5-kilometer time trial for his team’s varsity and junior high athletes on the school track, with social distance protocols in place. The times are then posted on Athletic.net."

Really close girls race. Would have been nice to see Pekin squeeze a few extra points to win their first x-country championship. But still, happy to see Dragon girls notch second. The program has really improved the last few years....congrats to all the runners from all the schools for competing through some difficult times with Co-vid. Also surprised that a school the size of Canton can't find enough runners to field a boys team...

Canton wasn't allowed to even start training as a team until mid-September. Tough situation all the way around for everyone, but maybe the most difficult for Canton.
It was nice to finally get to run at Detweiller this season (most teams hadn't had the opportunity yet). Regional meets next Saturday!

Per the athletic.net sectional link, top 5 teams from regionals advance and looks like top 5 individuals not on top 5 teams. Would be nice if IHSA would show actual results rather than links which makes it harder to see the information.

Congrats Morton girls on sectional championship. Mid Illini had 4 of top 5 teams in Sectional with ND finishing second to break up the Mid Illini sweep.
